For those whose seatback release doesn't work..

It does.

I hadn't messed with it in a while but my daughter was taking her sweet time figuring out how to flip the seat forward to let her sister out. In a rush, I finally figured it out.

Just pull harder. Feels like it's gonna break, but it won't! It'll pop loose and release the seat.

My older one is 10 and I'm like "first pull that handle on the side, then push the slide-y thingy forward. NO..you pushed it UP. Yes. ok good. Now pull that first handle again. you didnt let it flip forward far enough." Meanwhile my 8 year old is back there going "I HATE THE MUSTANG!!!"

I have this problem with my recaro seats... still have yet to have it work though and I've pulled pretty hard on it

You also have to lift, THEN push the seat forward. If you're pushing it'll be difficult to lift the latch.

Sometimes if the seat is not returned to the locked position all the way, you can tell by looking at the lower lever if it is not sitting flat like it should. It makes the rear lever operation very difficult.

When the car was new, mine didn't want to go via the release, but now that I've cycled it a lot, it goes without a big effort at all.

You have to pull the seat back slightly (or is it push it forward) to get it to release properly WITHOUT going all gorilla style on it. Its very easy and takes little effort when you do that.

Ya. I've never used it because damn thing feels like it's going to snap if you pull it harder. I guess I'll give it another chance.

Yep, I had trouble with them at first. I pushed the seatback toward the rear, and then I could unlatch it. They have since loosened, no problem. If they do stick a little, I just repeat the seatback push.

I have found that if I use the handle on the back of the seat to push it forward then use the handle at the bottom of the seat to put it back, I can't use the handle on the back of the seat until I use the bottom handle to pull it forward again. So try using the same handle to both push it forward and put it back and see if it works better.

Anyone tried taking the mechanism off the back of the seat to see if there's an obvious fix or lube?

If you use the rear handle to fold the seat, you don't need to use a handle again to fold it back. Just push the seat back and it will lock back into place where it originally was before being folded.

If you use the rear handle to fold the seat, you don't need to use a handle again to fold it back. Just push the seat back and it will lock back into place where it originally was before being folded.

That's the way it's supposed to work, but mine gets stuck also.
