Well,

I called the local Ford body shop just to see what they would quote for installing the Roush lower valance for the quad tips. They quoted me $160 out the door for 3 hours of work. I figured that was worth saving me about 8 hours of my own time.
So they had the car all day yesterday, I get a call last night and my bumper and valance are toast, they cut too much material from both.
The service manager is getting a new bumper delivered this morning, hopefully it gets painted today and the car will be together tomorrow.

Here is the part I need advice on, this guy is pretty good to go. He is upset that they screwed up my car but is also blaming the Roush piece, says its cheaply made and doesn't line up, hence the cutting. If I can't trust a Ford body shop to do the work correctly where do I go? I did not feel comfortable doing the work myself, which is why I went to Ford.
Would you guys just attempt it yourself, give them another shot with all new parts, or find a new shop?

I would not let them do it again. I would tell them leave the new parts in the trunk and thanks for the effort and look for another shop to install them. Numerous people run these parts on the forum so I would ask those guys where they got theirs installed. Maybe a more performance oriented dealership?

I would definitely not go back to the same place. In regards to their excuse, I don't buy it. I haven't heard anything about bad fitment of valance, but that's just me. I would give it a try myself. Good luck man.

Wow... are they going to replace the valance at all? That's rubbish if they don't!

I'd be furious! :paddle: My advice is you go find another body shop that's perhaps more qualified. There are plenty of reviews on say.. yelp/Google.

Good luck!

Yes they are replacing the valance and the bumper. The manager is not happy with everything and is doing right by me.
I actually called a different Ford dealer in ft worth and explained what happened to me, they said they do not want to tackle it since its "aftermarket".
I did not think this would turn into what it has. I think I'm just going to do it myself. If it takes me 2 days who cares.

Yeah I wouldn't bring aftermarket parts to a dealership for installation. 9/10 it will more a headache than it is worth.

I'd let them have another shot at it. They already know what they did wrong, you know they will do all they possibly can to get it right so they don't have to eat the cost of another bumper...

sigh, this is what I was talking about with AMwill yesterday. This is not the case with all dealerships. As I explained with him, both the dealership I work at now and my last dealership have put blowers on customers cars, we do steeda suspension parts all the time, we do lifts on f150s/f250s, install LED lights/lightbars, etc. Not all dealerships are this way, just gotta find one that'll work with ya

There are some that is why I went with the 9/10

Finding that one that will work with you seems to be tough in some locations.

In my experience over the last 27 years of being in the automobile industry and an enthusiast....

Dealer body shops are the worst hacks around. They are all about charging by the and to the book. The dealer uses body work as a profit maker. Most dealer body guys are new people fresh out of trade school. They have little to no experience. The dealer gets their work because most people dont know any better and just have wrecked cars sent to the dealer.

Private body shops live and die by their reputation. They frequently have people with decades of body experience. Good shops, don't let cars go out unless they are correct, because they rely on word of mouth so much.

ask your self this. If your car is wrecked tonight...who will you have it towed to? If you say your local dealer, you need to do your research now and find a good body shop.

I would have my car towed 1,000 miles to go to my guys body shop if i am out of town, because i have a relationship with them and i trust them.

Sorry if this came off preachy.

The paint match is all I'm concerned about now. Car has 2k miles on it and it already has a repainted part..sucks.
I'll let you all know what end up doing. Thanks for all the input.

I don't get what they had to cut? I've installed one of these on my buddy's and all we had to do was remove bumper, mark, with supplied template, and drill a few holes. You are talking about the lower diffusser correct? If so, nothing needed to be cut.
I glad they are admitting fault and taking care of for you though. I'd give them ONE more shot. Sounds like the service manager WONT let it happen again and is concerned with your satisfaction.
