Flex fuel e85 sensor kit

Anyone got any experience with this kit? Knowing if I have true e85 without testing it in a tube would be nice. I’m not sure if this is actually accurate though or if the app work well.

My uncle runs it on his new edge mustang... seems to work good, it instantly starts reading while filling up. App seems good.

Just get a true E85 tune and don't worry about it. It will save you the money from having to buy that gadget. Wengerd offer an E85 tune as an add on to a regular tune for 100 bucks but you have get it when you buy the regular tune.

So you want him to get a “true E85” tune and then not worry about what e-content he puts in his car at all? Sounds like bad advice to me.

You don’t NEED the “gadget”, but I’d definitely test the fuel somehow.

Maybe you meant Flex Tune and not E85 Tune.

No, I meant E85. These cars can handle E30 from the factory, any more than that and you need a tune for it, whether it be flex fuel or full E85. You can buy a simple E85 tester from amazon for 15-20 bucks if you're concerned about E content and that will tell you just as much as that gadget. Most full E85 tunes can handle an E content from 60-90%. A flex tune will not gain as much as a full E85 tune will.

BTW just about every tuner out there will not write a flex tune for a boosted car, they are too dangerous considering the E content can be unreliable

Best option would be a sensor plus a real flex tune not an inferred one, right?

Its a nice kit, I had one on a previous car. Works great and since its a phone app it doesn't clutter your dash.

The best setup would be a carplay app so you can have the gauge on your display, but they don't have that it seems.

I use it. Works great. Also shows fuel temperature and eliminates the need for carrying around a test tube and water bottle. No more spilling on your fingers, or having to dump the test out in the gas station trash can

I'm surprised companies don't offer a sensor like this with their fuel kits. I would have bought one.

Not sure how I would go about installing this on 8an line with my current setup.

Its a good kit. Doesnt fit very well on the Gen 3 but i made it work. Part of the issue may have been the billet fittings. The sensor and the app works perfectly. I dont think i have full on E85 near me. I will try one more station thats 10 miles away instead of 2. My last 2 tanks have been 65% by this sensor. I run the PCMtec user adjustable flex tune. Its fantastic.

No. Its a Continental ethanol sensor. I think they are tried and true as i understand it. As long as you dont have a lot of contamination or water in the tank it should be fine.

I will say i installed it before i got my flex tune and it read E9-10 on several tanks of Philips 66 93E10 gas. So that made me feel pretty good about it.
