Hello, I have a 18 A10 with the 235’s. New wheels and tires are the first mod and in the works. I will make my first ever run down the strip at Bradenton strip tomorrow.

Does anyone have some tips to get the most out of the car with what’s on it right now? Lower the psi any? I would assume a quick hearing of the tire but just want to run it by the Folk’s that do it all the time.

Thank y’all
Chuck

Well, seeing as you have an auto:
1)Line up at the tree
2)stomp on the gas
3) Remember to brake at the end

Lowering tire Psi won't do much unless you are having serious issues with launching/getting traction, which shouldn't be an issue on a prepped track with an unmodified 5.0.

If your going to have fun. And actually race the guy beside you. Leave on the third yellow. If your looking for the best slip. Put the car in drag mode. Load the suspension. (Give the car enough RPMs to make the suspension squat). And when you launch. Don't just bury the throttle. You'll spin. And your sixty will suck. Try feeding in the throttle progressively. And just remember. No matter how bad you do. You'll still be faster than the guys in the manuals!

Watch out for wheelhop on the 1-2 shift in drag mode. It may not hop with the tires you are running but it will shift very hard and will likely get wheelspin.

I'd imagine since you're on the stock 235 A/S tires there will be a lot of wheel spin (depending on the traction control/advance track settings).

If you turn it all off be careful!

I got a ton of good advice and went out and did the opposite... suffice it to say I’ve got a lot of work to do. I was a darn nervous wreck by the time I got to the line and only had one run before they shut me down because I didn’t have a helmet (didn’t know I would need). I have a helmet being delivered Wednesday and hope to make it out Thursday weather dependent.

First time is always overwhelming.

Take your time, practice, visualize pre-run routine and try develop a routine and stick to it.

Hello, got to make my 2nd, 3rd and 4th passes in the car tonight and things went smoother. First run (12.9) I ran in drag mode with traction control on to get through my jitters. On the second run (12.8) I ran with no traction control and drag mode. On the 3rd and final run, I bypassed the water box and got some good heat in the tires for the best 60’ for me of the night. I’m pretty happy with 12.4@115 for being my 4th ever pass.
All three passes were run with 21 psi in the rears. I’m going to start by adding a Steeda x pipe and bmr jackig rails first, and then add the cb005 and bk054 afterwards. Forgestar drag pack will follow that round.
I appreciate all the advice and I’ll continue to get more comfortable with the car and nail down my own process.

Nice. And she’s still got a couple 10ths left in it.

Congratulations! You made some nice gains. 12.4 is pretty dang good considering the 235 tires. How was traction? Any wheelhop?

The track prep at Bradenton Motorsports Park seems pretty dang good and that’s probably the reason I didn’t blow the tires off. A little bit of spin in the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts and a touch of wheel hop in the 1-2 shift. I could feel the rear end walking around on the 1-2 shift for sure.

Wow...those small tires did better than I expected. My 255/40-19 Pirellis made drag mode impossible to use due to violent earth shaking hop. Thankfully drag radials solved that problem.

Your car runs good and lots of potential to run even better. I see 11s in your future.

Made it out to track night on January 3rd with a DA of 1294. On the first run, I did a short fairly low rpm burnout and loaded the rear end holding about 1600 rpms. Left out with some wheel hop but made a PR 60’ of 1.99 and a PR of 12.3 @ 116. I was very happy with the time and hoped to get a 12.1 or .2 on the following run. Unfortunately, my burnout was too long on the follow up and I blew tires so bad that I thought I had lost the tranny bc it pegged the limiter with no smoke. I peddled it and ran a 15.1 @ 111. I’ve learned my lesson on the burnouts for these all seasons. Shorty after, a car lost a driveline component and spewed tranny and gear oil down the track which resulted in a 2+ hour delay and ended my night.

I have the BMR CB762, the diff lockouts and the Steeda alignment dowels that I want to install along with drag springs. I’m also ready to invest in the F14 dragpack and see how far I can take the car on the stock tune.
