Took the fiancé's GT and my R/T out to the track last night to get a few runs in. I was mainly focused on getting a good baseline for her car before throwing anything at it. I brought my drag radials along just in case I wanted to throw them on the Mustang, but it quickly became obvious that it didn't need it. Even though it's a base model with 235's (3.15 rear), the track prep was good enough to allow for a full throttle launch with no wheel spin.

The first pass I wasn't sure what to expect (prep wise), so I rolled into the throttle as quickly as possible without inducing wheel spin, but it seemed to bog down a bit once I finally made it to WOT. Not sure if it was an issue with intake temps, as there was an issue on the track before my run, so I sat there idling for a minute or so (I knew as soon as I'd turn the car off, they'd allow me to go). Ended up running a 12.84@112, which I was happy with being my first time down the track in the GT. Definitely a nicer starting point than my R/T lol

The second run I was fully ready to go WOT off the line. I launched from idle and the car seemed to pull better off the line. Though I didn't notice any spin or bog this time around, it only pulled a 1.92 60'. Though I was okay with that when I read the rest of the slip; a [email protected]! I don't really trust the mph as everyone seemed to trap lower in the right lane (3-4mph reduction), but I was extremely pleased with going below my goal of a 12.5.

In general, I'm pretty excited to start modding this one. It's literally a full second quicker than where my R/T had started at (13.483) back in 2009.

Very nice. These cars are more capable then people give credit. Do you know what the track DA was?

I agree, I've always respected the 5.0's, but I honestly didn't expect to go under a 12.5 on the stock 235 all seasons lol! And the DA looked to be just over +200 for this run.

My bolt-on 5.7 didn't fare as well. I was able to pull a 1.84 60' rolling into it,, but it just doesn't have the top end to compete. Plus my current tire size is probably hurting it since I still have the stock 3.06's (29.5" tall), but it looks good so that's half the battle. Lmao! Best for the night on street tires in the Challenger was a 12.634.
