Well, I finally made the jump from S197 V6 to S550 5.0. Got a new to me 2016 Base MT82 car with 33,000 on the clock. This is Mustang #3 for me, and my first V8. So far I love the car, but I'm already looking to do a few mods. Ultimately I'd like to be full bolt on with a lund flex fuel tune. Here's where my hold up is so far, an Ngage with a flex fuel tune from Lund is 800 bucks, and that seems insane to me, I picked up an SCT X4 and a set of tunes for my 14 v6 for 350 all in. Seeing as I still have the X4, and unmarried it before getting rid of the old car, it makes more sense to me to get a different companies tune, and make updates to it as I build the car over time, then when I'm finally full bolt ons, spring for the Lund tune. So who do you guys recommend for tuning, preferably someone who will update the tune over time for mods either for free or a small fee?

I know people will jump all over me for saying this but I had tunes from bama on two different mustangs 2016 Gt and 2013 Gt. Never had a single problem. I understand I was probably leaving some ponies on the table but the drivability was perfect and the turn around whenever I did a new mod was fast.

I mean honestly, I was considering them just while I was building the car, then swap to lund once I got my intake manifold and injectors for flex fuel.

Pick one tuner and stick with him. If he doesn't offer free updates when you upgrade they will offer them at a reduced price, as long as you buy the parts from them. Oh and stay away from bama tunes, I've heard too many horror stories about them and most supercharger/turbo kit manufacturers don't recommend them either

you can't run E85 without upgrading the injectors anyway, as I recall. Buy useful things like suspension and IRS/chassis fixes. Cold=air intakes are worthless unless you're adding forced-induction and even then it's debatable.

Bama effectively doesn't even really exist anymore. They still have to support free tunes for life but that's about all now. American Muscle pushes Lund quite a bit.

Why can't you pay for a lund tune on your sct? I'm tuned by lund using the sct bdx and have no issues. The nguage is great but not necessary if you already have a tuner.

^^This. An N-gauge is not require if you already have an sct.

Palm Dyno Beach is another option.

Great looking S550! Welcome to the v8 world. I would suggest either Lund or PBD, both are great tuners. We are running a Spring sale right now, so hit me up, I can get you a great deal on a combo. https://www.lethalperformance.com/info/springsale2020
