I have been waiting a LONG time to get my next Mustang. My last one was a 2006 GT that I loved so much, but, after many years of ownership I sold it in favor of a SUV as that's what my needs required at the time. I have known for about 6 months now that I can finally buy a Mustang again and the original plan was to get a 2013/14 S197. But then I turned my attention to the S550 and really loved what it has to offer and have been patiently saving up and waiting for the right deal. It seems that deal has come along and I was getting all set to put a deposit down for a brand new GT this week that is in route to the dealership with a build date of June 8, 2017.
And then I find out about the driveline vibration issue. :/ And the body panel fitment issues :/
It seems the latter is mostly resolved in later model year cars of the S550 but the driveline vibration seems to still be unresolved (even still seems to have a lot of disagreement on what causes it). This is going to be my daily driver --- hence the concern. I know what everyone's going to say, if you look hard enough every car maker and model has issue's. And I do take what the internet says with a grain of salt but even I gotta' admit the driveline issue on the S550 is VERY widely reported. $40k to me is a lot of cash for a car and I buy my cars to keep and drive for 10 years.
I feel like Im scaring myself out of buying the car now... anyone else been in the same boat recently feel the same? Should I be as worried about this issue as I am? Do you guys think later build date 2017's have had this issue "quietly" resolved?
Some words of input from anyone would be appreciated... although I'm not sure what I'm hoping to accomplish from this post either, lol. Maybe I just needed a sounding board... super confused now!
