Driving on the highway, about 120km/h

Hear a banging sound like I hit something that went around the wheel well and then got spit out.

See this when I get home. Lucky it just missed the tire.

Yeah, my Subaru tire caught something at about 60 MPH but it escaped thru the wheel. Used my driveway marker to show the path. Had a momentary bit of flat tire flutter, then the super stiff Yokohama sidewall settled in and it felt perfectly normal. 200 miles on a donut spare at night with fully loaded car. Never rode without a full size spare after that
A sealer can would not have fixed that.

To be fair a plug or patch probably wouldn't have sealed it either.
And just a friendly reminder for those of us with spares-full size or donut. Periodically check the air pressure in the spare. It does no good to exchange one flat for another...

Good point. My doughnut was low and we called AAA to change the tire cause it was dark as hell out and they had no air on that truck and 2 to 3 stations in Summersville West Virginia 10 miles up the road had faulty pumps so always carry a pump.
