This is going on by me, too. The main road connecting most of the stores has been butchered, as well as a large amount of the side roads one would use as a detour. It's definitely intentional. There's no doubt that local business is taking a hit as a result, as well. My gym is across the street from my work, and it takes me 20 minutes to get there (no, I'm not crossing a torn up highway, in rush hour traffic, on foot). The unnecessary evil part is them scarifying highways just to get billing started knowing they have started too many projects so late in the summer that they will not get repaved for months and possibly before the cold weather hits. Thats what seems to be going on up here.
Tramlining and significant wear & debris/stones being thrown keep me from a lot of otherwise good highway drives (i.e. Fridays to work). Motorcycles seem to be avoiding major roads too (I see none on these crapified major routes & interstates).
Saying I'm irritated would be putting it lightly. I also haven't seen a single construction worker in over a week.
