What's interesting is. All the gasoline is the same. I work at a refinery. We sell to every gas station in the region. It's not economical to sell your gas all the way across the country. When you have customers locally! The only difference between brand X and brand Z is the additives. There is no octane differences between brands. 93 octane at Shell is the same as 93 octane at Valaro. So you wont make more HP using one brand of fuel over another.

I agree. I buy gas wherever is the most convenient. They all run the same and I've not felt any differences in one brand over the other. I usually go to Kroger due to the fuel points and its pretty new. I've never had a problem with any car I've had. More marketing than anything IMO.

We have GoGas around here with 93 E-Free, it runs nicely!

Have you gotten any engine lights from it? Someone was telling me they ran ethanol free and their engine light came on. They were driving some truck though, not a mustang. Kind of shied me away from looking for it, but I'd still be tempted to if I can find a station out here that has it in 91. We only have a pump at work that sells it in 86, which is an oddball octane to have. I pump pure ethanol out of railcars at work and load up our trucks, we bring that shit in to a Chevron terminal for them to blend in with their shit. It's horrible how quick that stuff eats through the rubber seals on all my hoses, though it does a good job cleaning when I soak a rag in it lol. But I can just picture what that eventually does to our engines over a longer duration, even if it is pissed down to 10% in all our gas.

Exactly! That's why I look for top tier gas so the internals keep clean and try to get gas at a busy station so it is as fresh as possible.

You shouldn't. I run ethanol free BP never ever had issues.
The only time I had kind of an issue is when I had less than quarter of tank gas sitting in my hot garage in the middle of the summer for about 3 weeks and the octane dropped low enough for the ECU to cut spark and one of my exhaust tips was coated in soot after I drove her hard.

Base gasoline prior to additives is the same, but is it possible that additives can lessen the effectiveness?

When I had the conversation with the Steeda guys, they felt that the Shell additives might be diluting the end product.

Personally, I can't say I feel a difference. But I did switch from Shell to BP, then to Sunoco when I moved to a new area where BP isn't readily available.

The car runs plenty strong on all of their 93 options.

Went to racetrac because nothing is around last week. Car was detecting knock and pulling timing... got shell 93 yesterday and it's all good now. Lesson learn :'(
