Just flashed back to stock and now it threw a P0315 code
That's odd. What tuning device do you have ?
Anyways start the car, let it warm up & rev it in neutral to
4000 rpm. It should clear.

SCT BDX. Haven't had any problems with it yet. I have the special function on there to do a crank relearn. You think I should just do what you said or actually do that procedure through the device following the prompts?

If I just do it the way you described, I assume I still would have to clear the code first and then do it, correct? It won't just clear by itself after revving it right?

Ok so the code won't clear. I tried with my SCT and with my code readers. I hit erase but it doesn't disappear from the dash and it's still present when I search for DTCs again with either device.

To do the crank relearn through my SCT it says make sure all codes are cleared first. So now I'm stuck

start it and rev it to 4k after some warmup time.

How long should I hold it at 4k? I just did it but I don't know if I held it up there long enough. I tried clearing the code after that and it still hasn't gone away

Well, not sure how but I just got the code to clear by doing the crank relearn through my SCT. But it didn't say it was successful, which I think it's supposed to. The dash light then just went away on its own. Had to rev it up to just over 4500, like you suggested. I'm not sure if it was the fact that I did it through the SCT device or if it was just because I did what you said, and you know what?... I don't care lol. It's gone. Now I can go drive and square the rest of those monitors away.

Just a little note that until your O2 sensors pass your cat monitor will not. After the O2 sensor heaters and function are completed then it will run the cat monitor test which usually requires driving it at a steady speed, say 50-55 mph for a few minutes then a decel down to 30 or so and then maintain that for awhile and then bring it up to cruise speed again. The cat monitor was one of the hardest to complete on some cars, yet others you can take it around the block and it's all completed. Go figure.

Thanks. Yea so far I have everything ready now except for my fuel and evap monitors. Did about 55 miles so far since this morning. I think I'm close now.

Side note, I can really appreciate the difference between my 93 tune and stock tune after driving around with the stock one again for a while.

BTW, I think New York allows the EVAP monitor to not be ready. Make sure the car is between 1/4 and 3/4 of a tank for the EVAP.

I don’t have to deal with inspections thankfully but having to drive for 70+ miles to get things ready to be checked just seems insane to me. I get that it needs to be at operating temperature but what’s the magic that happens between mile 5 and mile 70 that suddenly makes things ready??
2000 Lincoln LS in California. First time this happened to me the smog shop said to drive it 50 miles; second time they said 100 (50 must be marginal). ECU-equipped cars can analyze the cats' performance 'on the fly,' and you don't need the tailpipe test, but the computer needs time to compile the data and you'll flunk the test without it.

in ny you need 4 of 5 monitors. my last car has a catless exhaust that i passed regularly with the o2 code checked so it was in a constant unready state but it allowed the o2 heater to pass so i was golden... untill i had a evap leak then out came the fake gas tank pvc pipe mess so basically 4 of 5 and you are good regardless. o2,o2 heater, evap, egr, something mundane here.

I was probably good to go like you said now, but I figured might as well not take the chance. So I went out for another drive after letting the car cool down for 8 hours, and within 15 min the EVAP monitor turned ready. So now I'm good across the board.

I learned something here after this ordeal though:

Don't make a bonehead move when you know better, like disconnecting the battery and then going for an inspection a couple days later. I'm kicking myself over that. But regardless, I'll be buying a memory saver now for my ECU just in case I must do something that involves disconnecting the battery, particularly when I'm approaching an inspection.

Also, I'm not so sure anymore that there is such a thing as a tune that won't affect emissions directly or indirectly. I'm sure some will disagree with me here, and that's fine. Maybe I'm just the unlucky exception. But even though my tune does not actually disable any emissions-related components, as per my tuner, sometimes changing anything can make it harder for the monitors to run and go into a ready state. Either way, the end result is the same - can't pass emissions. Now, after I pass my inspection, I'll of course flash the 93 tune back onto my car because it's still a great tune. And if all my monitors then eventually go READY over the course of the next year, I'll stand corrected and retract what I said. Time will tell.
