Cobra, I appreciate the explanation but who do you talk to when the dealership AND Ford CS tell you it starts the day it left the factory for delivery? Again, I special ordered the car so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. (it shouldn't) It's not the issue of getting the work done, it's been approved, it's more of the fact that what if something else happens in that 2 week window where Ford is saying it ends (9/16/20) and when I actually signed the purchase agreement (9/29/15). I can see it starting the day it arrived at the dealership and if you don't buy it until it's been sitting on the lot for a year, you lose that year. But for it to start when it leaves the factory and hasn't even arrived at the dealership... stupid.

If the body mgr knew what he was talking about in the first place, it wouldn't have been an issue. But the month to 6 weeks it took to get him to do it correctly, screwed the pooch.
Warranty starts with the in service date when you sign the papers to take possession. The car could sit on the lot for 3 years unsold, and you would still have the 3yr/36k mile bumper to bumper warranty. Are you talking with a service advisor at the dealership or somebody at the dealerships body shop? You have to go through a service advisor who then takes pictures of the corrosion and sends them to Ford. Ford then makes the determination if they will cover it under the TSB. If they are covering it, then it goes to the body shop for the new hood/paint, which Ford pays for.

Stop going to the body shop, they can't help you until Ford agrees to replace/paint a new hood. Make an appointment for regular Ford service.

Frustrating. Special order shouldn't matter. Good advice above.

If you have a buddy with a Mustang maybe ask them to call another dealer and Ford CS with the same question, quoting their vehicle details. Or call another dealer yourself as a 'prospective buyer' and ask how the warranty period works if you're purchasing a new car that's been sitting on the lot for a while or a used car that's a year or so old. Should take about 2 minutes.

If they all say it starts from when the car gets its first license plates - which they probably should assuming it's also the day the first owner takes possession - you have alternate advice that makes it worth going back to Ford CS again.

And as suggested just go to through Ford Service instead of the body shop, hopefully you get more sense.

On a related note, just got my freaking title, 4 months after I bought the car, even though I paid it off immediately (was forced to finance due to a rebate. Will never do it again). I immediately noticed the lien date is EIGHT DAYS prior to me signing ANY papers, and seeing the car for the first time. Will call Ford C/S Tuesday, and ask what is my in-service date. It better be when I bought it, and not 8 days prior. But after reading this thread, wouldn't doubt it will be before. I'd fight it left and right out of principle alone.

Yes, it is 5yrs/60k. When I first went to the body shop the big cheese told me it was 3yr/36k. I tried to tell him otherwise but he was adamant (cause he's been doing it for over 20yrs) it was only 3yr/36k. I was so fed up I just left. This was a month or so ago. Knowing the 5yr mark was coming up soon, I went back and showed him the wording in the warranty pamphlet and he filed a claim. A week and a half later he says it was ok'd to do. So he wasted 6 weeks of warranty time.(yeah, it is some of my fault not really pushing it.)
There is nothing worse when people start defending there position with such narrow mindedness and being stuck in their ways quotes. Soon as someone says "I been doing this for so many years". That right there is a sign that they do not want to admit that your right and they are wrong and do not want to change, regardless of the rules, laws etc..

The TSB is the first post in this thread. Print it and take it to the dealer, or maybe a different dealer if yours is not cooperating. I already had my hood replaced under this TSB. No issues...

I am having same problem with hood rust on my 2016 Ecoboost. After showing my local dealer TSB's 19-2026 and 20-2233 They still claim that Mustang is not covered under these TSB's. Do you have paperwork that documents that Ford replaced your hood under these TSB's? If so, would you mind sharing a copy of the documents with me. I feel that would be great ammo in my battle with Ford over this issue. Thanks in advance

Unless I’m reading this wrong your dealer is a moron. What part of “all” do they not understand. Unless, of course, they are claiming that a Mustang is not a Ford.

The verbiage in the warranty documentation from Ford is what triggers the warranty if your car is still under the corrision warranty - I pointed that out in the hood corrosion thread.

All the TSB says is to replace the hood instead of trying to repair it because Ford knows (finaly) that repairing almost never lasts and it just keeps corroding after a repair attempt.

You may be misunderstanding my request. Do you have any texts, emails etc. from Ford informing you that they will be replacing your hood?

I already answered you about that in the hood corrosion thread.

It's clear that if you have a 2016 that is still under the 5 year corrosion warranty, then Ford should replace the hood under warranty. If your dealer can't understand Ford's written warranty and the TSB, then call Ford and have them explain it to the dealership service manager.

^This. Showing them an email or similar may result in a 'deer in the headlights' response and some obfuscation thus being a waste of time. If they can't understand the written word then Ford higher is probably the next 'best' option. Alternatively try another dealer?

Thanks to everyone for your input. Guess my next action is a call to CS at Ford.
