Hey All,

Just got a GT350! Very excited but just want to make sure this is normal. Car is a 2019 with only 1500 miles on it. When cold started it starts like you see in all the videos but once it's hot it'll crank for a while before starting.

Let me know if this is normal please!

Thanks

I guess it depends on how long it takes to fire, but in my experience it can certainly be normal. Many on this forum have reported similar symptoms, including on track days in between sessions.

My best guess: with the engine hot, the fuel inside of the fuel rails and fuel lines in the engine compartment turn to vapor. Once the engine starts cranking, the fuel pump starts forcing liquid fuel through the lines to the injectors. The engine then fires once the injectors receive fuel.

congrats on the purchase!

Maybe post a video to show how long it’s actually cranking. Sometimes, if it sounds like there’s hesitation while trying to start it could be a starter on its way out.

How do you start the car? Meaning, do you press the start button first, with foot off clutch, wait a few seconds, then step on clutch and press the start button again? This is what I do, and never had it not instantly start. By first pressing the start button without starting, it gets all the systems running first(electrical. fuel pump, exhaust valves, etc).
It does sound like a fuel vapor buildup in the fuel lines,

I was just pressing the button once, with the clutch in. I will try that method. That sounds like a reasonable explaination of what could be happening. It cranks fast, it's not a cranking issue like a battery or starter.

Maybe I'll post a video up if it keeps it up or gets me worried. Just good to here people have had similiar symptoms.

Thank you Pilot!

Yeah, these cars go through a lot of cycling at/before startup. If you press start without the clutch in, then hold down the clutch without pressing start again, you will hear all the cycling going on.

Thanks for chiming in, I'll be following to see what you come up with. I watched the video and mine doesn't have that rough sounding half started stage that yours does before it fires but total time is probably the same.

Been using Postal's start up method and it does seem to help a little. Being a 2019 that's been in storage for awhile might have something to do with it i don't know. Maybe I should replace the fuel filter?

Did you ever figure out what was causing this? I have the same problem on my 2017.
