i got the apex platinum warranty for $500 (and no they didnt tack on money somewhere else). 75k miles/84 months, i didnt care for it, but they said i could lock in a 1.9 interest rate instead of a 3.9 so i said ok sure.

Yeah my dealer did the same thing. Interest rate was going to be 2.59%. But after beating him up and agreeing to an extended warranty. I got 6 years/100k and 1.59% rate. Dropped my payment $13 dollars a month with the warranty.

No one should be paying more than 1.9% financing, warranty or not.

This statement makes a ridiculous amount of assumption about a person's credit.

You think?

I guess I assumed if you can afford a $60k Mustang in the first place, you at least had a score in the 600-700 range. I've been turning people on to places like PenFed for over a decade, and I've yet to have someone tell me they couldn't get credit through them. Their highest rate has been 1.9% for several years.

No offense meant to anyone, but if you have a reasonable score AND you don't already have a good rate locked in, let me know and I'll put you on to the process of getting loans from Pentagon Federal.

Having the money to afford it and having a good credit report don't always go hand-in-hand for varied reasons. Just saying everybody is different and having a score in the high 600s can still land you in a higher interest range (read 6-9%). But thanks for putting an alternative out there.

You may be right, but I would encourage anyone looking to give them a shot. I've never had dealers try to compete with them or Navy Federal on rates (most admit they are hard to beat), so I think most folks would have a good shot at qualifying.

Apologies for anyone offended, just looking to help.

No offense taken. I have very high credit score. I normally get sub 2% on a new vehicles and never had any issues getting 0% when offered. Heck just bought the wife a new 16 explorer sport and got .75%. I think because I got an MSRP deal, they where trying to squeak a little bit more out of the deal. I wasn't having it. I normally get the extended warranty on all my Fords. But after reading previous post. I need to find out if I actually have one. If not I will be getting my money back.

I was actually more ticked about paying the doc fee! I normally only have to pay $85 for it, but since I can't pull an "A" plan on SVT cars I got stuck paying normal fees!

It's ok. I can believe you might help some people if that company you named actually gives lower rates than most.

I only took a couple bids and I think my rate is 2.14%. I'm fine with it. My credit is mid 700s IIRC, so I'm not limited by low credit scores - just by my negotiating skills (or lack thereof) and the loan companies I worked with.

Saying no one should be paying over 1.9% is kind of like saying no one should pay over MSRP. It does come off as bragging and irritates others, but we aren't all here to be cozy all the time. We all have different thoughts and ideas, so there's bound to be some friction at times.
