Drone at 3,000 rpm? I've never experienced drone at that high a rpm in past vehicles and have not heard anyone here, regardless of exhaust, mention drone at that rpm. Usually 1500-2000.
It is NOT drone. I can guarantee that 100%. It is, like I said, a musical type of note almost when accelerating. Could be one of the pipes not being sealed correctly which is what I'm leaning towards right now... I think the guy f***ed up something when he cut 2" off. not sure why.

Ya. Sounds like installer error. Can't believe he would cut it like that without first getting in touch with you and letting you choose a course of action.

Yeah he was about to start cutting without asking me and I was watching of course, but I said, "WOAH WOAH WOAH you don't need to cut anything! It's a direct bolt-on system!" then he came over and explained himself that, "not all exhausts will always fit 100%. Sometimes slight adjustments need to be made." This is making me even more sick to my stomach thinking about... I really do not want to be here at work right now. I'd rather leave right now and show the moron the noise... it has to be an installation/sealing error. Those are the only options at this point.

Is there any fix if the seal isn't 100% at one of the clamps? There has to be something that can be done... this pisses me off even more thinking about it because this is the guy that the Ford dealership recommended and the same guy they use to fix all of their exhaust issues for customers. They outsource everything to him. Maybe he was just lazy and tired this one time and decided to take shortcuts.

I have that same exhaust and had similar issue with it, I went back to my dealership that installed it for adjustment and it was taken care off. They did not do any cutting though so not sure if that's caused by that. Id say check all hangers and clamps, something is off.

THANK YOU!!! I honestly figured it was a support hanger/clamp issue, and come to think of it I can think of the area right now. It's not a leak because there's no "pop". It's a musical type of resonance that is driving me mad. Did they say it was just an adjustment that was needed with the hangers and clamps?

I don't have the sheet with me but they adjusted hangers and clamp was loose between midpipe and muffler on one side I believe.

That honestly sounds like the problem. Like I said, this is a small self-owned shop that the Ford dealership here said to go to because they do not do any work like that. They outsource all the exhaust jobs to this one guy because he does a great job they said. I'm HOPING he didn't f**k up my exhaust and that he's intelligent enough to pinpoint the issue. By using logic, I'm figuring it's a loose hanger and/or clamp.

OR... it could be that him cutting the pipe by 2" caused the exhaust to not sit 100% properly in the hangers and that is what's causing the resonating sound of vibrations in the pipe.

We shall see. I'm going back to him today to show him what's happening. I don't know if I would be able to take legal action against him for something like this (his "profession" opinion of 30 years was that not all exhaust systems fit every car and some slight modifications may be necessary to have it fit perfect).

We will see at around 4:45pmCT.
Cutting off 2 inches is NOT a slight modification!

Yeah I know that's what made me cringe... that idiot just constantly reassured me that it's normal to have to do this sometimes and it won't affect anything. I foolishly trusted him. That may be the nail in my coffin. He ruined my stock system as well because he CUT IT OUT and he did THAT without even asking. Just went away cutting... This whole thing is just FUBAR.

Stand your ground, have the shop take the whole thing off and back on if they find no issues and blame the exhaust. Also be willing to pay for it to be redone. I had to do that and tech that installed it saw the issues and admitted that adjustments were required so it was free in the end.

I made sure that it was a Roush/Saleen type of a dealer that has experience with aftermarket. Hope you get that fixed soon, sucks to have a brand new car with a exhaust not sounding right.

Thanks man I appreciate it. If anything, I can just have 2" of SS pipe welded back on and that won't affect anything one bit. I'm also thinking of getting the pipes seal welded where the clamps are to quickly take care of any tiny leaks that take time to seal with the pipes expanding with heat from driving.
It definitely is frustrating, especially when you spend the money we did on the Ford Racing by Borla system. It's top of the line. I love the exhaust note... sounds so aggressive and tight like a race car which is what I wanted. I just don't want that harmonic sound. It almost ruins the experience for me. I'm going to take it to a new place on Saturday back home in Mobile, AL that I absolutely trust. They'll take care of it. Not a big issue I may just be overreacting at the inconvenience of it all, but it will all work out.

In conclusion: I love the way this exhaust system sounds. Just make sure the person who installs it doesn't cut 2" at the coupler to "make it fit" :headbonk:

I had a 2009 GT Mustang with the stingers on them and loved the sound, anyone know if these sound similar. Only issues I had with them on the old stang was the drone at 60mph

Deep loose rumble, tight race car raspy, or somewhere in between? What do you want?
