I apologize. I couldn’t find a similar thread. After that full detail I noticed that the clear coat on these American Muscle brand euro tail lights has been failing. I know it’s not an issue from maintaining the clear coat, just thin and kinda cheap finish.

Has anyone had this issue? Is it worth to try to fix or just buy new ones from CJ Pony (they are on sale).

Car is not a daily.

I've had this issue with several sets of the Winjet Renegade tail lights. I did a 1 year ceramic coating on my current set, but they've only been installed for about 2 months, so I'll see how long they hold up. Took the other sets 5-7 months before the clearcoat started to fail. If it happens again, I'm going to try the set from Form Lighting. If Ford made smoked lights, I would buy those instead.

JPump, get the Ford clears and get a tint kit from someone like Big Worm or Anchor Room if you like the smoked look. Really disappointing to hear of the peeling issues, I would expect better given they’re not inexpensive.

Wouldn't it be more practical to treat them like fogged headlights and spray them with a good UV protection clear coat? Maybe tint the clear if you want a smoked look? Seems like it would be much less expensive than replacing them all the time.

Aftermarket tail lights and headlights are junk unfortunately.

Hell my parents' 2021 Outback that was only 2 years old headlights started peeling.. so even the OEM stuff is junk too sometimes.

Ceramic coatings and automotive store restoration kits are only temporary.. need to sand them down and spray a 2k clear to fix them.
