As you know if you’ve seen my 3 prior posts about trading my car in, I’ve been kicking around the idea of moving into a gt350 or a hellcat. Yes, completely different cars. Which leads me to half a thought I can spend the same money on my car that it would take to upgrade (8k-10k) and end up with something that will be both serviceable on the track and good on the street.

to that end, I’m at about 460whp right now with E85, exhaust mods, and a k&n drop in filter. I want about 600whp.

at this power level, seems like the G2 kit is the way to go. Would I need fuel system upgrades at this level with e85? I have the PP1 radiator, engine cooling system upgrades?

Thanks in advance. Just trying to price out what I would need so I can make the best decision before spending another $5-10k.

Most Tuners won't tune an FI Mustang on E85 without a fuel system. That being said, you can do a drop in DW400 pump, and hit 600whp on 93. You wouldn't need a fuel system upgrade to a return style to hit that number.

I had a similar dilemma as you, OP. I ended up purchasing a paxton and a return style fuel system for my mustang.

By putting money into the car, you can make it your own. And sometimes it's better to dance with who you bring, rather than find a new dance partner.

If you're cross shopping a gt350 and a hellcat, I'm guessing you're either bored with your current car or you want more of a unique type car. (More prestige?)

Going FI can only fix the former.

Just kind of bored at 460whp and want more torque down low. Don’t want something half assed that will heatsoak or go lean on a road track and cause problems though. I track the car once a month in the summer and drive it on the street a lot on the more fun roads near my house.

The GT350 would be a similar power level to what I currently have but it would be more capable on the track by far and more fun due to the exhaust note /voodoo.

the hellcat would be less capable on the track but more comfortable on the street and way more fun (200 more whp).

Really a GT500 would be the best option but I don’t have anywhere close to the coin.

so if I can add a centrifugal for 7k-ish, make it reliable and keep temps under control, while upgrading the suspension and other bits with the other $2-3k, that might be the best of both worlds since it will cost me $10k out the door to bump into either a gt350 or hellcat.

and you're looking at an ESS?
Don’t need to blow the tires off. It will add torque down low just not nearly as much as a whipple. Whipple was the other option I was looking at but the propensity of a pd blower to heatsoak concerns me

Trade it in plus your 10k on an M3.

For 600 rwhp a g2 with upgraded injectors and a tune will be it. E85 will require a complete fuel system upgrade, but will put you well above 600rwhp. Buy a used g2 or a refurbished one from ESS and be done. Skip the gt350 that voodoo is hit or miss.

It doesn’t take long for the urge to add more power to kick in does it? I’ve been wrestling with this issue myself for a long time now and I’m currently at 639 rwhp/602 rwtq on a 150 shot with an E85 tune. Simply put, it’s hard to resist adding mo powa!

Tbh, 639 rwhp doesn’t feel like very much power to me at all, which is the reason why I keep wanting to add more. I’m thinking 875 rwhp would be enough to keep me content for a little while.

What kind of fuel system are you running?

When I first tuned for that power level on E85 over 3 1/2 years ago, I had the complete factory fuel system and a JMS BAP. Brandon at Lund tuned the car and said the fuel trims looked very good.

Since then the factory pump burned up about 6-8 months ago and I added a DW400, paired with the same BAP. Shortly thereafter, the nylon portion of the factory fuel line ruptured back by the pump (forward of the fuel tank) and I ran all new E85 compatible rubber fuel line and retained the DW400 (with an external DW check valve) and the same BAP.

that’s actually the setup I was looking at, the dw400 and boost a pump
