It may be academic at this point, as I may be trading the car in, but I've got some questions about the G2:

The unit lists for $4600, but what else am I looking at in terms of necessary upgrades to accommodate the boost, or is the motor stout enough to not need any beefing up?

How much would I expect to pay to have it professionally installed?

Recommended tuner(s) for this unit?

I'm driving a '22 GT Premium. The car will never see a track or a strip, and I don't race on the streets. I'm looking for something that'll get me maybe 600 WHP, mostly just to say I have it. Can I get this all done for under, say, eight grand?

lol these questions have all been B answered more than thoroughly in the ESS supercharger thread.
but to quickly and easily answer your questions, Wengerd tuning, 125mm pulley, any of the drop down options that come in the kit on their website. Get the BAP and your choice injectors and it's VERY affordable. You can be at like $5800 out the door...

oh But install is like the easiest install possible on the market if you're remotely inclined to do it. If not i would guess about $1000 in labor

Good info. So with install, I'm still under seven grand, it sounds like.

How highly regarded are ESS blowers compared to the Whipples and VMPs that a lot of Mustang owners are willing to drop serious coin on? And is it better than the Roush units that we're told to avoid like the plague?

If you read that giant thread you'll likely feel a lot more comfortable going with ESS. I wanted a vortech but installation and cold weather issues sent me to ESS and I'm not looking back. They've been on BMWs for years...

I do. It's all I've ever run in my car.
Ok good… I kind of figured because you are in FL like I am. So you could go with a G2 kit, G3 intercooler (keep those FL temps in check), a 120 mm or 115 mm pulley, LU47 injectors and BAP all from ESS for $5585. Wengerd Performance is running a 10% off tuning sale right now so that would save you a few $’s. Don’t forget some one step colder spark plugs which are nothing in money compared to everything else. Install is the hard part considering every shop charges differently (not sure where you are in FL but there are a few good ones around) so I would guess $1200-1500 depending on the shop. There is a company in TN selling everything as a pkg but it comes with a g3 not a g2 for around $8100 so I doing it for less than 8k is highly doable.

These guys remind me of that Ford dealer up in Ohio that does Roush installs. When I posted a question about the Roush units in "2015+ Mustang S550 Group" on Facebook, that dealer immediately started PM'ing me, just as everyone in the group told me to avoid Roush like the plague.

Truth be told, I've already got a deposit down on a Camaro 1SS 1LE. This is the last year for the Camaro, and I want in on that action before they're just a memory. I'll probably come back to the Mustang fold in a few years after the S650 has been out long enough for them to work out any kinks.

EDIT: I'm in the Orlando area.

Was that Lebanon Ford? It’s your life and your money to spend it how you please! If that’s what you wanna do roll with it! But if you don’t get rid of the Stang hit me up and I can advise the best that I can with what to go with and who. I’m in the Daytona Beach area!

It was Lebanon Ford.

I"m not a brand loyalist, plus I have the attention span of a ferret on crack, so I feel no remorse jumping brands just to try something doferent every couple years. I went from my last Mustang ('05 GT Premium purchased new in 2005) to a Civic Si. But I love Mustangs, so Ill be back in the fold before Ford turns away from ICE altogether.

So how do you feel the ESS would compare with the Roush? ANy chance it would be the heat-soaked nightmare the Roush is reputed to be?

Funny you ask that question… I actually purchased the Roush first and had it on for around 14 months. I purchased it for the warranty which lasted all of 3 months before I wanted more hp and and had issues with the Roush calibration. I spent a lot of money trying to make it fast and keeping it cool. I compare the 18+ Roush to having a double oven meaning two heat sources sitting on top of each other just adding more and more heat to one another and it sucked. The ESS is light years better and needless to say had I gone with it first I’d have a hell of a lot more money or a fully built car making 1200 whp running 8 sec passes. Live and learn thou!

So, to give you a little more food for thought, you are speaking about centrifugal superchargers in the same breath as roots and twin screw. They are vastly different in the way they build boost. That being said, here's a little video of my first meeting with a brand new ZL1...pay attention, he's not in it long. ;)

FWIW, people have been arrested/prosecuted for such things.

For murdering a Camaro?
You were doing 128MPH on public roads. People have gotten in trouble for posting such vids.

Your call.
