Hello,

I’m looking into getting a ESS supercharger for my stock 2015 Mustang. Although I’m not really sure how I should go about this. I’m stuck on getting either the G2 or the G3. I’m looking for a setup I can have fun with, and continue to use daily without any major problems. So I’m thinking with headers and a tune around 550 to 600WHP.

So in this scenario what components should I look into when I order the supercharger. Open to any ideas on how I can setup the car (looking to do mainly canyons and spirted drivings). I’m also looking for any suggested tuners in the Phoneix area.

Thank you

If you're absolutely certain that you wont want to push big power in the future, the G2 (120mm pulley, Lu47 injectors, and a Boost a pump) should get you to 600whp and be more responsive down low than a G3 at that power level. If you feel like you'll get the bug and want 800-850+ then might as well just go G3 now and then you're just a fuel system and E85 away from big power.

I'd look for a remote tuner like Lund or Wengerd (highly recommended) vs. trying to go with anyone local. On this platform the remote guys have seen thousands of Coyotes and will get you setup pretty seamlessly with good driveability

Remember, smaller pulley = more tq. Lol back in the day, the ECS corvette kits would come with a super small pulley, but a restrictor plate for the blower inlet that would limit boost at higher RPM. I always thought that was genius because you'd get almost PD blower tq since it was spinning way faster at lower RPMs, but at upper RPMs it would be limited by the restrictor plate. They were able to make HUGE tq at the bottom like you were running an eaton or TVS blower, but with a paxton novi 1500 on the LS1/2/3 cars.

No idea why we dont do that with Coyote kits. Same problem they had needing more tq down low but wanting to control boost up top...

Anyway, on topic, do what the first comment said. You cant go wrong. But be prepared, you will want more.

Get the G3, you'll make ~40whp more on the same pulley vs the G2.

Not even close to PD power or boost. Tiny gains down low.

Looks pretty good to me for a novi 1500. Making 400ft lbs at 2500 for a centrifugal blower.

Compare that to stock. It might be making 40-50 more. Whoopity do. It's a 6.2 liter engine, what did you expect?

You said "HUGE tq at the bottom like you were running an eaton or TVS blower"

That's not a true. A centrifugal is never going to make any meaningful boost down low (only a couple lbs), so it's only going to see minor gains.

Something like an LT4 blower or Magnuson is basically going to make full boost at 2500rpm and make like 550 torque.

So as I said, not even close.

To be fair your mind is probably warped from seeing stock 5.0s make like 150ft-lbs at 2500 rpm :giggle:

Sorry you got mad for being corrected...I don't mind it when I'm proven wrong, not sure why you have such a problem with it. You are a tuner so it kind of surprised me when you said that.

I was even polite about it. Just trying to stop things being spread like 'you can make TVS torque with a centrifugal if you pulley it right!'

Nice quote in your sig, BTW:

Don't hesitate to PM me with questions - I will answer anything. Transparency in tuning is KEY.

I’m looking into it. I’m trying to stay around low 600 range. So I’m leaning more towards the G2. I’m also looking at longevity to make sure the car still runs in 5-10 years.

Thank you on the recommendation for tuning. I’ll have to look into that today.

Thank you all for the your input!
What headers and manifold do you guys recommend I get? Currently I have a 3 inch MBRP cat-back street exhaust.

I'm torn, thinking of the G2 (laughs from the crowd) since I don't plan on big numbers. I want something that continues to handle great, has great brakes and still makes 600rwhp+.

I figure I can always go E85 at some point if I want to run quicker at the drags, but I just matched the G2 and the G3, and the G2 with the G3 intercooler is only about $600 less than the G3 with the identical setup, since the G3 comes with the G3 intercooler already.

I should go with the G3.

Will they make the same power with the same size pulley, or does the G3 make a tad more based on the impeller?

Sorry, not trying to hijack, hopefully this helps the OP. 🤣

I sent you a PM. I’m in Tempe and can get you squared away. There are no recommended tuners in PHX but I can get you set up with a device and tune from a recommended tuner.
