Was going WOT @70 mph when I forgot to shift and hit the rev limiter. The engine turned of instantly when it happened. A lot happened really fast, think it told me to shift to neutral. Dash was still working and no check engine light or anything. Stopped the car and wasn't starting, it wasn’t even trying to start. About 5 mins later I tried again and fired up with no issues also drove fine without any signs of a problem. It was 86F outside at the time, so A/C was running. It’s a 2018 GT A10

Things that stood out
- when trying to turn on/off the ignition it was turning the dashboard on/off and saw some weird exterior temps that weren’t correct.
- checked the voltage from the dashboard, was showing 13-13.5 when on, 11.5-12 when off. I always remember it being 14.5 when driving.
- tested the battery later 12.3 @60%, needs replacing after 8 years.
- checked forscan (forgot to save anything) thing that stood out was a u0100 on the PAM. The PCM had no errors but other modules showed they lost comms with the PCM at one point.
- few weeks prior the engine had a very brief stutter when coming to a stop, it almost shut off. Dropped a few revs when idle but came back.

I am hoping it’s just battery related

Will contact the dealer to see what they think

I've had that happen to me a couple of times, 2018 gt A10. I was in sport mode, in S and another time in track mode it hit the limiter and shut down or if it's stop start driving it doesn't like it. It just wants to go and seems to get confused as to which gear it needs and shuts down. It just seems to be protecting it's self.
I just pulled over waited a minute and it started up no worries. You do have to turn it off and wait a minute before starting again.

I did it once in my car where I had tapped the paddle shifter in S mode and forgot so when I took off again and floored it, the engine went past redline and into injector cut off causing the engine to go "brrp, brrp, brrp, brrp, etc." until I let off the throttle. However the engine did not turn off and everything ran fine after I upshifted. I don't know why your engine turned off as injector cut out won't do that; it just cuts off until the rpm falls below redline and then turns back on until it over-revs again then cuts off again and repeats until you either let off the accelerator or upshift.

When it happened to me it was like it went to a limp mode.

Interesting, at least I am not the only one :) To me the remedy seems easy, don't forget to shift, think I forgot to shift a hand full of times this was the first time it cut off and wouldn't start untill I turned it off fore a while.

Might be the 2018 PCM software has some issues? Doubt mine was ever updated.

In general it's weird it doesn't just auto upshift, some cars even when it's in manual shift mode it'll upshift for safety.

Mine is bone stock, always use premium fuel.

Well, my owner's manual clearly stated that in "S" mode, it will automatically upshift, BUT if you touch any of the steering wheel shift paddles, then it will cancel the automatic shifting and it will only upshift/downshift when you depress the paddles. I had a "senior moment" and forgot that I had touched one of the paddles coming to the stop sign. Won't do that again!
