Good afternoon, everybody. I have a GT350 2016 with 11,000 miles. At 7,000 miles, I had the engine replaced because of engine consumption. It was wasting one quart every 100 miles, so Ford replaced it with a new gen 2 engine. Now I have excessive engine movement to the point where some of the heat shields came off and the dealer fixed them but they dis not look further into it for the actual problem. My oil pan also warped probably unrelated, so I got it replaced by warranty also. I looked at the motor mounts, and there's one with a black cover and one with a blue cover. I think when they replaced the engine, they replaced one of them, but now I'm thinking either the motor mounts or the transmission mount is bad. Dealer won't do anything about it. Have you guys have any issues with the motor mounts after 10,000 miles?

the engine will move a lot if the engine mounts are shot. The Shelby engine mounts are bespoke for the FPC and it sounds like they put a GT mount on your car.

My guess is you have mismatched mounts and one of them failed

If you suspect the wrong mount was used, I would ask the dealer for the part purchase history of the VIN.

Yes sir, I did ask but they couldnt find that a mount was replaced when the engine was replaced. The only evidence is the difference in colors.

Have you viewed the engine mounts visually while the rocking in occurring? Does the left and right move the same? Post a clip of the rocking you are troubleshooting.

My 2016 350R is on the lift in the garage, so I went out and checked. Both left and right have a blue cover on them. The cover is a rather flimsy rubber-ish cover. Not seeing any heat rejection material in there at all. The mount underneath the blue cover is black.

I'm going to guess that when they R&R'd the motor, they probably damaged the blue cover and didn't replace it (not sure why they would).

As for the rocking, it is quite possible that one (or both) of the mounts are loose. Getting a socket on the top nut is pretty easy from above. Getting on the lower one, without the car in the air, looks like it might be a challenge.

That was my thought exactly and these people in the dealer are treating my Shelby like a regular mustang.
It's different from a GT as a GT is different from a V6. But make no mistake, it's just a regular mustang.

Both mounts are torqued to spec, they were not loose. I think im gonna order new ones just to be on the safe side.

Interesting. Last I checked the base through the Gt shared the same body. These as well as 500’s other then the doors, roof, and hatch are completely different. I’ll leave the powertrains out of this. If they’re regular mustangs why did they cost so much more. Never understood the hater mentality.
