Just had the engine replaced in my 2017 GT350. Process was smooth and local Ford dealership was great. Was using a qt every 200 - 250 miles, first 250 after engine replacement and no usage. A change I've notices is oil pressure used to be at 75 PSI, now is 100 PSI. Both were higher when first started in morning and when I get into it, and lower at rest. Is this increase in PSI an issue?

My replacement engine is about 35 at idle, soon as I get on the gas its about 90 or so......definitely different behavior than my first engine. My second engine is actually a R code engine. I checked. Lift off your drivers side plastic vale cover, see if you also got a R engine.

I have a base R and idle oil pressure is high 30's.

100 for me until warmed up, then backs down to 50. Doesn't use oil. At idle.

Not an issue in my opinion. My ā€˜16 behaves similarly and doesn’t use oil.

Did you get any explanation from Ford, the Dealer/Tech on why your original was going through that much oil?

Thanks.

None of us got an explanation. Ford Performance is pretty tight lipped as I called them when I got my motor and I asked them if number two would be more reliable. I asked about the mysterious change in piston rings and possibly pistons in the 18 and on engines and he simply said Ford does make changes and updates in product cycles all the time. That was it. Neither confirm or deny a specific change. It’s classified above TSI level!!!

I didn’t. They did test compression on cylinders and two of them were 212psi, the other 6 were 230-240psi.
