Mine has it, I think they all do. It's not annoying...it sounds like contacts on old cycles..or tappets. Can not hear mine at all at idle. I hear it from around 2200 to around 2750 RPM. I usually keep the motor around 3,000 so the only time I hear it is when I'm climbing thru that RPM range. My car hasn't gotten hotter than 203 engine oil temp but I've only ran it at around 65 degrees outside. My oil pressure runs at around 85 to 90 psi at around 3500 RPM, oil temp around 195.
Sounds exactly like mine. When my oil is about 200ish, it's pretty much gone...if I run it up a few times and get some more heat in the pistons (which is really what we're talking about here) - it goes away completely. I think this isn't horrible...It means that the pistons will grow to the appropriate size when you're running it hard at the track. ;)

So, it sounds like the sweet spot is around 205 degrees. Is there anyone that is running an alternative oil ? Wonder if they slap would still be present with a different oil. IDK, just throwing it out there.

It's possible but I think it's directly related to the temperature of the piston and if it's "grown" enough to reduce clearance/reduce slap.

Geez guys. I'm feeling like a newb. Not a total one because the 6 mechanics at the dealership didn't check either.

My problem was LOW OIL

I have 3000 miles on my car. I just had to put 6 quarts of oil in her.
So either my dealership I bought it from didn't check the levels or she eats oil. I've seen a thread where a couple of people were talking about how much oil so maybe it is that. I'll keep a close eye now. I just didn't think I would have to look at oil with so low mileage. I'm assuming the all the mechanics thought the same. Hoping there was no damage with such low oil. Hope this helps others.

Holy crap. I'd worry about damage with the sound it was making and running it at high-rpm. If it burned 6 qts in 3000 miles, that would be bad. The dealer should have followed a PDI checklist and checking the oil is pretty much number one. Keep an eye on it man!

You were down 6 quarts. :eyebulge:

Is the noise gone ? No way i'd let the stealership get away with this so fast. I'd ask that they run some more test just to see if nothing was internally damaged.

Do you have in writing that they had to add 6 quarts of oil ?

How can a dealership forget such basic stuff as checking the oil is beyond me.

Yikes. Was that horrible sound always there? How many miles before you started to notice it? What did your oil pressure gauge show?

Six out of ten quarts down, I agree w montreal ponies additional tests should be done. Good luck

Yikes!!! That's terrible...your engine ate 2 quarts every 1 K? I'd think there was a leak somewhere, maybe the filter? Hope she holds up for you!

I noticed it about a week ago. Unfortunately had some hard driving over that week. Just have to hope for the best.
That's the thing. the pressure gauge is the same now which is why I didn't think of it being low on oil. And the mechanics didn't either.

I assume you are planning on getting the engine replaced, correct? With it being 6 quarts low and making noise, I'm 100% sure there was internal damage. My advice is don't just let this go. Insist on getting a new engine.

I have a very light rattle at idle, but I can't even watch that guy's video to see if it sounds anything like his since he removed it

It's barely even noticeable and only happens every now and again. I've been dealing with so many squeaks and rattles since the '15 vert that it barely bothers me anymore when I hear something new. Smh.
