I prefer the Mobil 1 0w40.

It is likely their best formulation, and has some impressive approvals.

The manual calls for 5W20, so why use anything else??? If you want synthetic, go for it in the correct weight.

The manual also calls for 87 octane (which is what I use but still the point remains). What do they put in the exotics?

I would never use 5w20 in a car that is driven hard.
my 2011 Mustang GT only used Amsoil 0w30 and did a oil analyst at 40,000 miles with 11k miles on the oil and it was perfect. My 2015 Mustang GT will only use Amsoil 5w30 because it is available everywhere.

I live in Phoenix, where the summer temps are generally in the high 110s and the winters range between lows of ~28F and highs of ~70.

I'm not sure if 5W20 would really be the right viscosity for me.

Hell, I run 20W50 in all of my motorcycles.

I would never run Mobil 1 since it's no longer a true synthetic. There are better choices out there.

That is a slightly misleading statement

I would agree, there are better and worse choices.

By that statement you made, I would be disappointed if you ran anything other than Redline Oils with grp 5 base. ;)

I am running Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-40. Same oil that comes in the Viper and Hellcat. I like it so far as I have run Mobil 1 in my cars for 20 years.
