certainly good news regarding the tick, especially he ran the engine hard. He had the tick and changed to 5w40 then it disappeared but only to come back after a few weeks.

Mine started to develop, not as bad as my 2018, but a bottle of xl-17 .. quiet as a mouse now.. if it comes back oh well. I dont think it's an issue any, longer

One word..... Ceratec.

Seriously, more and more every day I'm almost convinced this is either an oil film issue in the mains, or a slight piston slap issue due to the larger piston head/compression ratio design this year.

If your oil is good, and you just can't stand that tick, just toss in a bottle of Ceratec to enhance lubrication.

Unless I start seeing metal in my filters, I'm basically done worrying myself to death over this.

Dealer had 3 on the lot, asked them about the mustangs having the issues they are having and none had the rattle or tick! Probably going back to place an order on a new 2019 tomorrow lol. They said they are selling them faster than they can get them in. Ill also talk to the service manager a little more about them tomorrow as well, but Im thinking im just gonna bite the bullet the least I can do is enjoy the car under warranty for awhile and if it gives me any issues then ill trade it in...

Mine didn't have a tick either. My tick reared it's ugly head around 800 miles. I listened to 4 of them one day on the lot. 2 had the tick, 2 didn't. My guess, is 'most' don't have the tick right away, but an awful lot do develop it over time.

I would like to. However, after adding Ceratec and an AC belt tensioner, the tick is gone. It might be a bit difficult to convince them to do it under warranty. The fact that I found almost nothing in the filter, then strained all 10qts of oil and still nothing, makes it a hard sell. And now, with 1 bottle of Ceratec, it's quiet as a mouse. Unless it comes back after the next oil change, I think I'm going to just roll with it.

Should do an oil analysis and post the results I’m curious! To me it seems not all are having issues and a handful are having scored cylinder walls my buddy has an 18 with 15k no tick/rattle or anything. Seems the 18/19s are definitely more prone to issues than previous but there’s still quite a few that are having no issue whatsoever.

LOL. That's a typical dealer answer. Nothing wrong with these. Come get them before they are gone! selling like hotcakes! He is not going to say anything bad about his product. he wants to sell you a car. A dealer is the last person to ask for an honest answer.
All BS aside. if you want the car, buy it. Life is too short to sweat the little details.

I had them start them lol and none had the tick. Now who knows when and if they will develop one later.

Did you wait about 5 minutes until they all fully warmed up? I noticed it seems the tick never really seems to start until after the oil and block are almost fully warm.

No they ran for a couple minutes. However the one I test drove idled for more than 5min then I drove it and it didn't have the tick or rattle

May not be the norm but mine doesn't discriminate between temps...it can be below freezing outside on a cold start and tick like crazy or it can be 85 and up to normal temp and tick.. Sometimes its flippun loud and sometimes it doesn't do it at all.

Does the Black Stone analysis show the cylinder bore materials .....
nanocrystalline iron and ferrous-oxide ? I failed the periodic table chart thing.... maybe my question is already answered in the posted file.
I forwarded a question similar to what you asked to Blackstone and this was their response: (I think I will add this to my initial post)

As far as poor piston/cylinder wear goes, that would show up in our tests as high aluminum/iron (respectively). Ferrous oxide is just rust off of steel, and that shouldn't really be an issue in a modern gasoline engine with how well sealed up they are. Really, we just test 20 of the base elements, so we wouldn't be able to tell if iron is from, say, a nanocrystalline-structured steel or just standard steel. When certain elements/metals show up together, that can help us pinpoint the source, but with so many steel parts in an engine is hard to be 100% sure where iron in oil analysis is coming from. Another thing to look for if piston scuffing is suspected are visible pieces of metal in the oil/filter. From what this first report showed for your Coyote, all looks good -- surprisingly good in fact, considering the low miles on the engine . Usually we find a lot more metals from wear-in in the second oil change, but your 5.0L is already nearly wearing like most do post-break-in. Please let me know if I haven't properly addressed your question, or if you have any other inquiries about your report.

Have a good Christmas!
