Engine Noise Change WOT

GT350 Tech Pack. At just over 1000 miles the sound coming WOT from the engine compartment seems to be 2x louder than before. Idle sounds just fine. If you run through the RPM's without load the sound is as expected, but when you open it up on the road, it just seems like there is something wrong - something changed. It seems to be louder on the passenger side of the car than the drivers. No mods, resonators are still in. Fuel is the same. Any thoughts? Thanks.

The problem is I am really hesitant taking it to the dealer. The last time they had it I got a new rear window when the lot boy drove it through a door. :frusty:

Well I guess I left that out. I did add an amp and new speakers. And the day that this all started I turned the gain up a bit (a lot) compared to where it was for the past few months. We drove all day before noticing it, but maybe I just didn't get on it like I did at the end of the day. So - I just went out and turned the gain down and guess what.... That ridiculous sound is way less noticeable. :headbonk:

I guess I figured that by isolating the sound from the stereo to new speakers wouldn't impact that. I am guessing that Ford put the noise canceling "feature" in the GT350's with Tech Packs... That totally makes sense to cancel out that beautiful engine sound.

I'm still going to say that's debatable until I hear it for myself - I want to hear exactly what is coming through and the effect it has on sound when it's on/off.

I'm just not sure if the main function is to mask a certain frequency to make it drone less or something to that effect.

Is that only in Tech Pack cars? I don't think I have any noise coming through the speakers of my Track Pack. I might test this out and post some video or something because I'm really curious now.

Appreciate the comment, ihc. Does anyone have confirmation this is true (either engine noise piped in through the speakers or noise cancellation through the speakers)? Something verified in a the press or something from Ford.

Here is a document about this from an earlier thread. Please see pages 10 and 14. Is it possible that the noise difference is partially because the exhaust noise isn't being cancelled out after the stereo change?

The only way to be sure is to get something official from Ford about the DACMC module and how the ANC (assume stands for active noise cancellation?) and ESE (assume engine sound enhancements?) processes work. I get the sense from page 17 description of the "audio dsp module" that it is only noise cancellation but from the description on page 18 that it does both?

Someone brighter than myself can probably decipher this document. It does clearly show that the DACM-C module is only on the 2.3 and 5.2L cars on page 2.
