Hey Runamuck,

Let me know if this continues, and you're taking it to the dealer. I'll see how to best assist on my end, and kick that Pony back into gear. :D

Jeff
Will do. Thanks for the reply.

Same here.... just a random shutdown on my car as I was coming to a stop. I have a stock 15 mustang so it had nothing to do with any mods!! It only happened once (so far). I will be keeping my eye out for more issues like this with others. It is a first year design!? Hopefully we are not looking at a latent design issue of sorts!?!?
Ok.......this is getting a bit disturbing
It happened AGAIN today... same exact circumstances
I was coasting to a stop at a light and just a bout the time I put it in neutral the light changed and it shut down. As people don't give you even a second to get going, this guy almost slammed into the back of me. Ford better figure this out and QUICK b4 accidents start piling up! This could get Ugly real quick. Are we supposed to report this to ford? I'm more than sure the dealership s have no clue how to fix this.

I agree, the dealership will not have a clue on how to fix this as this is an intermittent problem. They can keep the car for a week and have the issue not appear. It just does it randomly and is a safety issue. Like previously posted, members that have had this happen should file with the NHTSA for Ford to look into it.

My engine hasn't died randomly but I slowly lifted my foot of the clutch to switch into first and started to take off, the car felt like it wanted to shut off. Gear shifter was shaking and it felt like it was going to stall. I tried to lift my foot off the clutch slowly again without giving it gas and it kept shaking and acting like it wanted to stall or cut off. Shut the car off started it right back up and it was gone??? took it to the dealer this morning they found nothing. Car runs strong as ever. Im thinking about getting a custom tune. Should i hold off on the tune?has this happened to anyone? what could it be? Car completely stock no tune.

Happened yet AGAIN...... 4X for me now--same exact circumstances! Went in to talk to the dealership and they claim they have not heard of this problem before. Bottom line, this is STILL not on the radar screen at FORD or maybe this is just the party line :gossip: until they choose to address it!? :frusty: Be careful out there.

Sorry to hear that it happened to you yet again man and this is definitely a concern that Ford needs to address. Fortunately, I have not come across the problem again except for the two times that I mentioned when I created the post. I haven't taken mine to the dealer yet either because I haven't had time at all but luckily hasn't happened. I have reported the case and the CSM at Ford knows about it as well.

Hey vicj,

Is your dealer taking a look at the car when you bring it in? Send over a PM with your VIN, mileage, name, phone number, and dealer info; I'll get this escalated.

Just had this happen for the first time this morning. Luckily I was not on the road at the time. I had started the car this morning to let it warm up and after about 4-5 minutes running, it just stopped. No drama, no CEL. Hit the button to start it and it cranked up with no further issue. Taking the car in for a few more issues next week so I will be adding this to the growing list.

I just added this to your case notes, to make sure it was on the radar with your CSM.

Thanks Jeff. I am however at a loss as to what they would even look at as this seems to be a mystery problem and it is so random in occurence. They could drive the car around for days and it wont happen even once so where would they begin to look? It would be GREAT if FORD would put something out to the dealerships to look for. Is there even ANY POSSIBLE culprit to guide them in troubleshooting on the horizon? Without it, there is really nothing that they can fix. I certainly dont want to do without my car for days only to have them say they didnt experience the problem!?

I doubt the dealership will even know where to start or what to look for as all parameters seems to be normal. You can document your issue here https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/Vehicl...nt/index.xhtml and maybe Ford will take a closer look at what is causing this. It would be a shame if an accident would have to happen first before they investigate on what is causing this.

mines done it twice stopping at a stop sign/light, I just can't stand my dealers pricks in service. So it would = taking out of town. Since its sits most days so I will wait for a fix. Local dealers service don't know left from right.

I get your dilemma, vicj. If you send over that information, I can still get the issue documented. The more documentation there is on a specific situation, the easier it is to see how widespread the issue is. This is how Ford determines areas of customer concern for future recalls and customer satisfaction programs.
