My trailer is similiar to yours so I understand the left and right thing.

The only time I had an issue with backing up was just a few weeks ago trying to get it parked in my back yard. On one side, I have to miss the neighbors fence. It was dark and raining and could not see the fence.

I keep thinking of putting lights and camera on the back of the trailer.
I will keep you posted on how this setup works so you can know if its worth it.

Thanks.

I have the lights, need the camera. The reason the lights are not on is I hate ladders. But, need to get it done.

Camera Question: Are you wiring it to come up in the truck screen or by phone connection.

I have 2 tow vehicles and have been debating how to do the camera thing. For short trips, I use my Ford Excusion but if its an overnight or out of state trip, I use my motorhome. Thus, my issue.

This is a stand alone system. I chose a 4 camera 7" display monitor that I will use with a windshield suction cup mount. I will also connect a 12v receptacle to the power harness, because when I am not using the trailer, I will just pop the monitor off, and store in the garage. I plan on leaving enough cable slack to then roll it up and put it in the glove box when its not in use.

You would only need to purchase a second truck side video cable to mount in your second vehicle, and you could just use the monitor in both.

Yesterday I finished running an 8 AWG power/ground from the truck battery to the rear bumper. The power wire goes from the battery to an auto resetting 40 amp breaker, then into a relay (which has a fused ACC trigger wire from the fuse box), then to the back of the truck with the ground wire (directly connected to the truck battery) into a quick disconnect. I did a quick test, and the jack works perfectly.

While I was at it, I jumped a wire from the bumper end of the power wire that I ran, to pin #5 (12v) of the truck side 7 pin connector. I can now use the interior lights, and the exterior loading lights any time the key is in ACC, or when the engine is running. As soon as the engine is turned off, or the ACC switched off, 12v power is killed. This should have been the way Ford wired the truck from the get-go. Having to have the truck in drive to trigger 12v is great and all for charging the breakaway battery, but renders the interior lights, and loading lights useless when its, you know....DARK, and you are trying to actually use them for their intended purpose lol.

I am now on to running the truck side camera cable, and monitor. I will update with pictures once I have completed everything.

I was mounting the plate for my winch mount this morning. Need some grade 8 bolts.

Off to the hardware store.

I got the truck side wiring done today, and tested everything. All works well, and it looks like I am good to go.

This is a quad view camera, but I am only using two.

You can select which cameras to be on what channel. I will use channels one & two for split screen view. I may just leave it on the interior camera while driving, but who knows until I actually take my first trip.

Each camera input has a trigger wire that will bring the camera being tripped to use the whole screen. I tapped into the reverse lights, so when I put the truck in reverse, the rear camera pops up in full scree. You can choose to turn off the grid if you want.

I am using a their windshield mount, and connected power to a 12v connector, so I can only use it while towing. I did not want a permanent system. When I am done, I just pop the camera disconnect cable, and the 12 power connector in the glovebox.

All and all, I am very happy that I picked up this system, its pretty cool, and works great. I am also glad that I took the time to do a wired system, this way I will never have to worry about connection issues.

Great Write up Jaime.

Please send or post info on the camera and video monitor model #'s.

You have inspired me to do the same thing to my trailer.

Thanks

Sure, use this link to get started, but I recommend that you call and speak to a customer service representative. They put together a custom kit based on what I wanted to do. The normal trailer quick disconnect that they include in their pre-made kits only has pins for one camera. Since I wanted both camera's inside the trailer, I needed the multi-camera quick disconnect kit, which isn't in any of the preassembled kits. If you want to do what I did, here is what I got.

Two camera system with 7' quad camera monitor
Multi camera trailer quick disconnect kit (support 3 cameras)
33' double female camera cable (to connect from the trailer side of the quick disconnect kit, and go to the rear camera)
16' double female camera cable(to connect from the trailer side of the quick disconnect kit, and go to the inside camera)
Suction cup windshield mount

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks buddy, it's a give and take relationship, lol.

The Limited (with weight distribution hitch) pulls my car & trailer pretty effortlessly.

Im concerned about MPG. not because i care, but south florida to delaware, i had to stop every 2 hrs for fuel.. that was a PITA getting home. I may have to custom order a truck now as well. final piece to the puzzle, GT500+ Explorer ST, and now Raptor/Limited or F250..
