What is it that you like about this supercharger?
Great explanation below.

1) Edelbrock has been around 75 years - they are not going away.

2) I live in Escondido, CA, just down the freeway from their offices in Torrance. If I have a problem, it's a short drive.

3) The unit itself has the least amount of installation modifications of any of the units out there (and I've looked at the installation instructions).

4) Edelbrock manufactures the OEM supercharger for the Dodge Hellcats.

5) The unit appears stock from the factory and is low profile. I may be able to have a custom-fabricated strut tower brace where that won't work with Whipple, Roush, VMR, Magnuson, or any of the other models.

6) I am not looking to drag race it - just spirited driving and an occasional road race track day.

7) I don't have to worry about a jackshaft breaking or binding up.

8) I don't have to upgrade the throttle body or exhaust if I don't want to.

9) Edelbrock is not nickel and diming me for endless extras that I don't want or need.

Different strokes for different folks. If you like Whipple, Roush or another unit, fine, go for it. Not my cup of tea, sorry.
Very good post.

Minus the misinformation. Preference based on price, aesthetics, noise, HP vs dollar, etc are important, warranty, customer support and track record, decisions based off false or misinterpreted information is not and never is good.

So what did I get wrong in your eyes? I already acknowledged that i spoke in error about the manufacturing of the Hellcat SC's - Edelbrock only makes the rotor enclosure for IHI, the ultimate supplier.

Edelbrock also provides me with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty where Whipple, per their website, charges extra for it.

Whipple is also having issues with their bypass valves as documented in this blog. i have not heard anything similar from Edelbrock. On the flip-side, Edelbrock makes their systems primarily for "stock" cars, not highly modified cars so when it comes to fixing things (like tuning) on highly modified cars, Edelbrock is probably not the best place to go. Again, I'm not looking to make my car into a high-horsepower drag racing car. it will be a daily driver for me.

You know, this thread started as an update on information about Edelbrock and all the Whipple guys can do is jump in, complain that I'm not buying their product, and treat me like a idiot. I don't appreciate that. You want my business? Treat me better. You don't sell more product by bad-mouthing the competition. I recently put solar panels on my house. The two top companies that were competing for my business were only $600 apart. I was highly likely going to buy from the more expensive company because that electrical contractor, a union shop, had been in business for 75+ years. However, when i told their sales rep the competition was between their firm and Firm B, all he could do is take an hour and bad-mouth Firm B when I knew based on my research that what he was telling me was false or at the very least, stretching the truth. I ended up picking Firm B and it was the best decision i ever made. They did an outstanding job and even gave me a $550 check for a referral for another installation. Moral of the story is, don't bad-mouth the competition (and their customers).

The only reason Whipple SC keeps commenting is to correct the errors in your comments about their product. We all agree the edelbrock kit is nice. But there is no need to make false statements about someone else's product to make your point.

The bypass valve issue is not a wide spread issue. I have never have any issues with my whipple. It drives better than stock even with my 100oct tune. No SC kit makes your car a all out drag car; they are all very streetable for DD. Whipple's calibration allows the user to reduce the power per gear or globally up to 25%; can any other tune do that.......nope! Also, power vs dollar, edelbrocks will likely be at the bottom of all kits. A Roush kit is a better buy; can be bought for around $700 less and has more potential.

Just because you aren't being told what you want to hear doesn't mean people are treating you like an idiot. There is a lot of misinformation and we take FI seriously since it is a big investment. We would hate to see you buy an inferior setup based on false information. No one means any offense...

Brother I have never bad mouthed Edelbrock. As I've said countless times it's a great kit, very innovative and a formbidale competitor. We actually worked with Vic years ago before they got fully into the SC game. Many other employees are our friends, it's a small world and we have zero issues with Edelbrock. All we are doing is addressing things you have consistently made in post that are misinformed or slight slams on us.

As for the bypass, very, very few have the issue and the bypass comes from the same supplier as everyone else uses. But it's not the bypass per say, far more advanced. But as for software issues, not stating Edelbrock but everyone we know of struggles to make the perfect cal. We are the only ones that have little issues with a production based cal. Not a lot is shared here but many need update after update as people keep moving the torque inverse and driver demand tables, but that's not the correct way. It works if you do per vehicle but in reality the cal is 3D based and if you don't change the actual torque model correctly your cal will always be off in areas. Does it mean it won't work? Nope, but sometimes it takes more than one shot on the cal to make it ok.

Thanks for the education. I'm sure Whipple puts out a great product. I saw one on a 2016 GT yesterday and the owner raved about it - 686 RWHP. What kind of boost do you run in your Stage 1 setups? Thanks.

Also, to be fair, you aren't going to hear about any small concerns on the Edelbrock until more are on the street. The Whipple bypass issue is an extremely small population of the overall volume of street products out there. Still, I wish you would buy this damn Edelbrock so I can hear about it lol I have always liked their products as a whole.

Got to find the right slightly used GT first! Working on it. Used to own a 2013 GT but some idiot who was texting at the wheel t-boned my passenger side while running a red light. Car was totaled and I'm fortunate there were airbags in the car.
