Ecoboost base vs Performance package brakes?

Hello,
I have a base ecoboost and plan to apply the ford racing tune when it is released. I've always heard with more power you need to make sure the braking power is equally matched.

I do not plan to track the car. Would the ecoboost PP brakes be a noticeable difference in the street? Are the base brakes adequate when increasing power through a tune?

Yes. I chased a 911 on a mountain road a few days ago. At the end I could smell my brakes but they were still stopping the car fade free and with authority. I have no doubt the PP brakes are better at resisting fade and would be needed had the chase continued for another 15 minutes or so at the pace we were at, but the base brakes are more than enough for a street car well beyond what you should be legally doing.

Does installing PP brakes on base EB require the purchase of hardware (dust shield/ backing)?

If you have 19" wheels, just buy the Brembo kit that includes everything.

The PP brakes are a huge upgrade. When I owned a base I hadn't even driven the PP brakes yet and I felt they were substandard. You can pull over a G easily by standing on the PP brakes. This car is heavy.

I believe they are worth scanning eBay for someone selling them or someone upgrading a BASE GT. I believe you can find them for $300-400 for the front rotors and calipers. They do hold very good without fade.

I know they didn't put 4 piston brakes on the rears due to cost cutting, but really it shouldn't be necessary. Typically the front brakes do at least 75% (if not 80) of the braking. The 2 piston calipers on the rear should be fine for anything you can throw at this car.

Parking brake is the issue putting larger brakes on the rear that are not factory. Wilwood offers a kit, but it looks funky to me and the GT350 upgrade is really pricey

I recently drove a non PP ecoboost and I thought the brakes were a weak spot on the car after having my PP ecoboost. I am glad I have the PP just based on the brakes after driving that car last week !

If you aren't tracking the car, the stock brakes are fine with a tune.

The reason for better brakes with more power is because the extra power can get the car back to speed faster than the standard brakes can cool off. That is NEVER going to happen on the street.

But there may be other benefits to upgrading brakes: (looks, feel, etc.). But you don't need to because you got a tune and only drive on the street.

For a given car and geometry, the stopping Gs is totally the tires since even the lowliest stock brakes are more than powerful enough to lock the brakes if the ABS didn't prevent it. Other good reasons to upgrade brakes though.

Yup! But you will need everything calipers, rotors, lines and backing plates.

Shelby auctions them on Ebay...usually 2 pair or so a week...cost me just under 300 saw some go the next day for 350 ...280-350 is the range ... I have not put them on yet. But at the end of the straightaway on the track that soft squishy feeling was not happy with the non PP brakes. I also bought Steeda stainless brake lines though they came with the GT brakelines wanted that upgrade too.
