I have an auto EB. When Im driving "normal" on highway Im getting around 33-35MPG while doing about 60-65. When I drive almost 100% in town, which is most of my driving, Im getting about 22-24MPG's. Then when I put it in Sport+ im down to around 19-20. I know it sounds kinda cliche, but from what Ive noticed it really depends on your driving style. Mine is pretty mixed!

You cant drive a turbo car the same way you do N/A and expect to get good mpg, especially with a small turbo. Use the boost gauge as your MPG meter and stay as far away from "0" as possible. Youre going to have to ease into the throttle slowly, the moment you hit boost it dumps fuel in.

Nice, when do u plan on flashing it with the COBB tune? It'd be interesting to see how their economy mode effects MPG since it limits boost
I will flash it this week and go with the Eco mode through the winter I think.

...a much more powerful car, one that doesnt sound like blender, that easily beats that number AND its EPA rating.
What car did you use to drive? It sounds awesome.

I drive a auto ecoboost with PP and I don't know why I can't get over 20 mpg with mixed driving and get worse if it is only city like 17-19 mpg. Is this a issue should I get it checked or is this what you all are getting? Thanks.
Dude, I'm getting 21 -22 mixed on a GT PP, you must be a lead foot... have fun!

Took this in the way home just now.

41 degrees. Flat road. 62 mph. 7th Gear. Cruise on. Sport Mode. V8.

*yes it held that 34 mpg the whole time the road was flat*
I posted a picture of my 15 GT (AT, 3.15s) scoring 35 mpg after 10 miles of flat 60 mph cruising. If you reset the computer after you are already at speed, these FI V8s will really knock down the numbers. But the slightest hill or acceleration hurts, a lot. A real number for a relatively flat highway and real (65+) traffic speeds seems to be more like 28 or 29 on the computer, which works out to be a little lower than that when hand-calculated.

I have manual PP and regular city driving like I stole it I get 15 to 17 if I drive like an average person 22ish. On highway going between 65 to 75 I got it as high as 35 driving 95 to 120 around 24

Figured I might throw alittle fuel on the fire here.... A few weeks ago for the hell of it reset my mpg while driving to see what I could get. I was driving in a rather hilly area so it wasn't a flat level highway. To my surprise my mpg showed 45-47mpg!!! And it held this reading for a good 20 miles until I hit a more residential/city area. To those complaining about the EB's mileage. You have to remember what you have. Yes it is a 4 cylinder but it is turbocharged.... And for those that have the PP... You are NOT going to see the EPA highway milage because of your 3.55 gears.

More displacement/more horsepower = less work needed

High revving all the time and jumping in and out of boost = sad mpg

For any specific chassis moved a distance 'x', the work performed is identical regardless of engine displacement. There are many more variables involved when discussing fuel efficiency. BSFC, pumping losses, gearing, etc.

Just wondering if you have anything valuable to add to this thread, or if you're just here to dog on the EB and tell everyone how 'awesome' your Corvette is...?

You're right about there being many variables but for the most part the more engine displacement, the easier it is for it to make power (especially at higher RPM's). Why do you think the EB is really strong at lower RPM's but loses steam higher up?

Also, he is a contributor on the forum regardless of having a Corvette and I don't believe he has dogged on the EB at all. All of the engine offerings are excellent and have their advantages even if they overlap in some cases like MPG.

If we're talking about making maximum power, I'd agree that, in general, this is the case (with the exception of the higher RPM statement). We're discussing gas mileage however, so that really doesn't have anything to do w/ the topic at hand. Also, to answer your question...tune and a small turbo. These are already being addressed by the aftermarket...however again this has nothing to do w/ MPGs.

Maybe I read this differently than you do, then:

Too me the Ecoboost mpg and so-so performance is kind of a joke.

No bs boost to deal with

If you really want performance and gas mileage save and buy a Vette lol
If he had some technical explanation for his opinions, I'd feel differently, but he doesn't provide anything of the sort. I'll agree that he posts a lot...but 'contributions' is stretching it, imo.

I am sure everyone got it now that BRENT302 has a Corvette now. I am happy for you! How is it as a daily driver? No? Most of us who are using the Mustang as a daily driver is a V6 or EcoBoost more than enough. I could post now a picture if someone like where it shows 38 mpg on my EcoBoost because I drove only 55 mph/90 km because of the icy roads we had. Posting pictures doesn't show real day living. I am sure when Brent302 puts the pedal down the 34 mpg are gone in smoke too. Absolutely nobody needs a 6.x liter engine as a DD anyway. (Sorry that I feed a Troll)

Found this graphic useful in comparing the GM AFM system to small disp/turbo engines...

As for the notion of 'reliable'...do a search for 'LS DoD failures'...and why deleting the system is commonplace...just did one on a G8, in fact. Oh, and it's only inexpensive until it fails.
