Hello,
I was wondering if it is bad to pull your e-brake while driving? My sibling thought it would be funny to do it while I was going 20 MPH, but didn’t really do stop the car. Thanks!
That would have been during your sibling's final ride, right?
"e-brake" is actually kind of a misnomer. It's more of a parking brake. The physics of it all determine that. In almost every situation, it is "bad" to pull it when moving. These cars are powerful enough that they can be driven even with the p-brake partially engaged, which could be bad for the pads and seals if continued for any distance.
Bad in what sense?
No it's not good but it's not catastrophic to the normal brakes. In fact it will probably have no effect on normal braking at all.
If it was done and released pretty quickly then it's unlikely that any real harm was done to the e-brake either besides some unnecessary brake lining wear that is. Now, if they were engaged and left that way you would likely damage (overheat) the rear caliper and crystalized the e-brake pads.
Worst case the e-brake is repairable, your sibling's stupidity is probably not.
Back in the olden days, we used to do Rockfords with the e-brake. Now then, pulling that thing moving very fast is a ticket for you to lose the ass end and up in the papers.
