I'm taking a best guess here, but in order of worst to best 0-60:
- 3.31 + manual
- 3.31 + auto
- 3.55 + manual
- 3.55 + auto

To the guys suggesting a tune: Yes, of course a tune will make the car faster, but to the OP's original question: the manual will be slower than the auto - assuming same gear ratio and same tune. Probably even a bigger gap after the tune, if you tune the auto tranny as well.
The 1/4 might be slower with the 3.55 final in the PP auto due to an extra shift, but the 62 mark seems to just get clipped in the C&D testing with that setup. I'd imagine that in gear acceleration would be quicker with the shorter final in any practical situation.

So I keep hearing that the auto's are faster than manuals now, but everything I can find online for the 2014 v6 mustang is showing the manuals coming in faster than the autos. Am I missing something here? Is the new auto significantly better than the old one? Or were the final drive ratios different between manuals and autos in 2014?

Also, it's looking like the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are slgihtly faster for the 2015 ecoboost than the 2014 v6 based on the media results, which is always a plus :D
In 2014 the auto V6 was stuck with 2.73 rear gear ratio, whilst the manuals could be optioned with 3.31 rear gears. For 2015 the Manual gets 3.31 with optional 3.55 gears while the auto can be optioned the same.

ahhhh..... that's what I was missing. That explains the difference between the 2014 and 2015, but the 2014 results for the auto and manual with 3.31 final drive have the manual still coming out on top by 0.5 seconds. At least according to motortrend.

Thanks!

What Grimace427 is saying is that in 2014 you could not get 3.31 with the auto. So, yes, it is possible/likely that a 3.31 equipped manual would beat the 2.73 equipped auto.

Hmmm... the review online said both the manual and the auto were done with 3.31 for the 2014. Then again, if this wasn't possible it wouldn't be the first time reviewers have said things that aren't true.

I personally have no idea what was available gear wise in 2014. Was still neck deep in 135i going-ons at that point
