ms3 is a mid 14 second car. down ~45 hp, but weighs about 250 less. EB mustang should take it me thinks. Plus rear wheel drive for EB.

The best magazine time I've seen of the newer style is around 5.8sec. Just going off of power and weight the EB should be faster. But who knows, will see when it comes out.

I'd bet faster being RWD and almost 50/50 weight distribution. Gearing is the big question.

having owned a ms3, the ecoboost should beat it pretty good. the ms3 has no traction off the line, then you have to wrestle with the steering to keep it straight. it really is that bad in first and second.. and those two gears have limited tq..

Let the battle begin

What battle..?

A FWD hatchback ~vs~ a RWD w/lsd sport coupe..?

More logical:
A Mazda Speed 3 ~vs~ Ford Focus ST ..? :clap2:

Or better yet, a Focus RS version, with the same 2.3 EB.

A lighter FWD hatchback with less drivetrain loss vs a heavier RWD sports coupe.

I upset more than a few people in my Speed3, but that was a while back. From a dig, I think the edge is going to go to the Mustang, but from a roll I wouldn't completely write off the Speed3. I just hope that the EB motor in the 'Stang will respond as well to mods as the turbo 4 in the Speed3 did. 20ish whp off of an intake alone? Don't mind if I do.

Well..

The Mazda simple doesn't have the rubber the mustang has. On the streets, what car can adhere to the launch.. wins.

Gravel... potholes.. fill-ins.., all hinder street 0~ racing. so tires play a factor always. So does traction control..

I don't think there any chance of these reliably competing against each other. The Mustang will put down +40ft-lbs of tq MORE,... & does so from just above 1,400rpms.. The Mustang has a much deeper motor than the Speed3's 4k rpms.

Then... there is that 45hp difference & competent mustang chassis.

At a drag strip...?

I'm hoepful that Ford gives the EB a decent top end. I know that the EB is going to come with a baby turbo (I think I've seen K03 somewhere), and the baby turbo on the Speed3 was dead on the top end. When you started getting deep into 4th or 5th it was like hitting a wall.

The turbo is a garrett(honeywell) and will not be a k03. I think its going to be some variant of a gt22. Not 100% sure.
