On my 2019 Mustang, I noticed when detailing this past weekend, that the area above the hip has some small dents. I know it's my fault because I place my hand here sometime when I lean against the car when getting gas, but I never put much weight down and never out on the flat section. It seems this is a very thin flimsy piece of metal even close to the crease. I am not sure it their is any access to this from underneath if the fender liner is removed, or I could get one those paintless dent guys to fix it. Anyone ever have this issue?

Right where your right arrow is my neighbor had something fall right on the crease. Devastating dent on the crease. A paintless dent guy spent 7 hours on it, but it's not detectable at all. I was amazed because it's a black car. I'm sold on PDR

Well, mine is not on the crease, just above it on the flat area. Sounds like one of these guys may be able to fix this if your friend had his repaired. Thanks for the info.

I can’t find it, but when the first S550 owners started posting on here, there was a thread about the early 2015/16’s coming from the factory with imperfections or dents in that same region being discussed. I recall quite a few pics being posted too...

Maybe someone can find that thread...

EDIT:
If the inner wheel well liners are removed you still cannot get to that flat area of the 1/4 panel, you will be blocked by the inner wheel well housing. The only way to PDR that would be coming in from the B-pillar (either through an existing access hole OR the PDR guy would have to drill an access hole to use the tools). Or they could probably get through some other access point within the trunk or from behind the rear interior plastics.

These are the only images I could find that would demonstrate what I’m referring to above.

I realized right after I bought it when pumping gas that they’re pretty weak areas. I leaned up against it and felt it want to push in and I puckered up with a quickness.

Great info, I appreciate it. I may check with one of these guys to see if they can do it. My S197 had some waviness in this same area even thought the hips are not as wide and I am pretty sure it came that way.

It's normal Ford body quality. It's historically worse on pony cars. I had a super body shop go through the doors and front clip alignment of my 16. When they were completed it looked better than any 18 I saw on the lot at the time.
Honestly, they are cranking these cars out so quickly that they're just letting stuff go.
Basically, because they know we'll buy them anyway. If you'd like to be really frightened go to the flat rock assy Facebook page and see who's building your car.
