Long time diesel guy new to gassers, I’ve read what I could find on e85 an from what I’ve found 70% ethanol is the minimum you can run on an e85 designated tune, so there’s only one place near me that has what I think is e85 but not sure can someone tell me if this is e85 or something else it’s labeled at the pump as flex fuel
Thanks

Pump some and run a test.

You should be testing every single time you use E85 unless you run Flex Fuel tunes.

Not familiar with the process so do you bring a gas can with you to test with assuming there’s some sort of test kits out there?

Found a video that explained and showed how to do it it does seem simple and straight forward, I may do some testing for a little while just to see where it’s at and how consistent being it’s the only station anywhere near me makes me a bit nervous might be better off with a flex tune I’ll talk it over with the tuner when the time comes

I wouldn't trust that pump until the summer blend starts to come around. We have 2 stations locally. One has that same label & the other one says minimum %70. Winter blend on that one is as it states. Minimum on the other one as well, seen %54 on that one most winters. Order yourself a Holley e85 tester. They're cheap & easy to use.

I’m in northeast PA so car will be stored from November to April at a minimum

I’ve done it several times. I keep a spare container for pumping a very small amount of fuel into it. I then add water to the fill line, followed by the required amount of fuel, put the cap on shake it and let it settle for a few minutes to get the reading.

Get both (Flex tune and an E85 tune). By regulations, all pumps must say 51%-83% ethanol content. Winter blends usually have less ethanol content in them. I run my Flex tune the majority of the time, unless I intend to race the car, or I’m data logging for the tuner.

You can always buy some One Ethanol and tune with it. That’s what I did and it tested higher than 85% ethanol content (good stuff).

Sounds like a plan the more I thought about it with the lack of availability I’d be better off having both tunes

I do have an nGauge that monitors it too, but I will always manually test it when I’m going to race it on the E85 and nitrous tunes.

Having the flex option wouldn't be a bad idea either. So you'll still benefit even on e54.

I'm not sure, but when n/a you get the flex tune with your 91/E85 tune. I'm ordering a tune right now & that's what it looks like
