Hi Everyone - just picked up a 2022 Mach 1. I was wondering do I need a tune to run E85 gas? Are there any setbacks using E85? Will it void my warranty?

Thank for the help!

You need a tune and yes it will void your warranty by getting it tuned.

I run a Livernois flex and have had no issues. Not a night and day difference in performance but the car feels more lively. Like a dog pulling on a leash trying to run.

Have you dynoed yours? I am still on the fence between Wengerd and Livernois Flex.

You've bought perfectly good car, why do you think you need to do anything with it ? How often do you use all the power to put inconvenience of having to deal with E85 on yourself ?
Test it or worried what percent ethanol was at the pump ? Having 2/3rds of the range of the regular gas ?

Whether you need to tune is the question you only can answer but in 99.9% of cases the answer is always no. Never need, always a want. And it will absolutely void your powertrain warranty.

(and for the record - I have E85 tuned car)

Livernois Flex has been very reliable and noticeable.
I run E70 in the summer and it is a huge difference!
Shifting strategy on the 10-speed tune is not the best from Livernois though.

The engine pulls better throughout the rev range with the increased ignition timing made possible by E85. Big difference, honestly. I found it to be too lazy below 3500-4k on the stock tune.

Testing at the pump for a dedicated (as opposed to flex) E85 tune isn't a big deal once you put a kit together to simplify things. As I understand it, a dedicated tune offers the full ignition timing advantage from off idle for maximum effect.

If you plan to road trip your car very often, then running a dedicated E85 tune is a bit of a hassle. Shorter range means more frequent stops and timing them with locations that sell E85. I've done it a few times, and there are phone apps to help locate stations, but it's a hassle.

If you plan to add boost in the near future, save you money for that tune and skip this one.

A tune is needed for E85, in terms or warranty a tune does technically void it. You can revert the car back to the factory tune but ford might be able to see that the car was previously tuned.

If you care about your warranty you should touch absolutely nothing other than cosmetic choices. It will save you considerable headache.

yes most of the time you can get away with it, but if the dealer really wants to they can find justification to deny warranty
