Well now haha. According to DW " • Note - pump does not have an integrated check valve"
Talked to DW yesterday, their new pumps have them, even says it on the paper work in the box.

Well I'd double check it then. Could be a older pump in a newer box.

Hard to tell, this is the second pump in a week, hard to believe I’d get sent 2 pumps back to back that never got that check valve installed, but they are being sent
Back to DW so they can check them over. Then again I bought these 2 from dnahyperformance.com. The 3rd is being sent to me directly from DW, so we will see Tuesday if the 3rd one is the lucky one.

Well I was disappointed on the first 2 lol
So far everything I read requires the inline check valve ? Couldn't find anything on the DW website that says it's included. I did just buy their DW400 pump & instal kit though, along with the check valve. Price was right, so why not.

So I took the old one, blew into the outlet hose and air flows through the pump, shouldn’t it be blocked by the check valve assuming it’s in there and working?

Yeah cause that's the whole point of a check valve.

Is it related to how long the car has been sitting?
Not really, once the car has been off for about 30 seconds or so the start time is the same. But if I turn the car off and right back on, it takes maybe 2-3 seconds to crank.

The failed check valve issue usually only shows up after the engine is hot and it sits for a while. Cold start and immediate hot start usually work fine.
