People have no respect for other's property. How did they put 300 miles on your car?!
They were driving it home at night every repair attempt. Thats where I assume it got body damage also.

I don't drop my car off at the dealer for anything unless it's a warranty or recall. The more they touch it, the more they can F it up.
Same here (re warranty work).
I've been wanting to add a second rear cam mount that faces forward on my rear window so that I can flip the rear cam around when taking my car into service. That way i can record what the tech does when he is inside my car

Also, I've concluded that the more I work on my car, the more it gets a bit dinged up, too. I try to be super careful when moving around the body so I don't inflict a dent or scratch myself.

Wish I had them everywhere, but the only view I have at the moment is this. But at least I know it is being worked on. Sounds like he is putting on the new control arm.

I don t know about FORD but a good dealer does the inspection when you pull in and list any damage. My Subaru inspects upon pulling in. The Porsche dealer used to take the photos when you pulled into service bay. too many clowns in the business IMO. as soon as I get my car I m going to visit the 3 closest dealers and get a feel for their car care.
I m a little like @WDpro , I act like I m the poor idiot and apologize for my over concern. usually works, LOL.

In about 40 months of ownership the car has gone to a dealer twice. For a rear shock leaking and a recall on the charcoal canister. I didn't photograph the car either time and did not have any damage. Neither time produced any more mileage on the car than when dropped off, as I would expect. Our Nissan dealer takes photos of the Rogue while you're standing there when dropping off. It would piss me off more if they didn't own up than the actual damage. I have learned in my career to take ownership of my mistakes. An apology and making it right goes a lot further in a business relationship than trying to claim otherwise. If I had a problem I would never use that dealership again and make sure that everybody I knew, knew that as well.

I agree 100% those dealerships that damaged my vehicle and tried to deflect fault have lost my business. The current one I use has put a ding in the door of another car I had, but they repaired it free of charge. Though I had to point out the damage. A person's character is tested every day, it is what they do with it that counts. Accidents happen, we are all human.

Approaching 40K miles, my dealer has done all maintenance. They know me and my vehicles. I point out the 2 rock chips and dare my service writer to find any other flaw. Car is always washed so no reason for them to do it. I also make sure they see me do a walk around when picking up the car.

I haven't had any issues with a dealership, But I have with a body shop.
They drive my car like fools, almost hitting school kids in the crosswalk, the crossing guard took down the plate. Now, mind you, I have family members that were police officers in that town.
They showed up at my Work and I was paged to the office. I was given the riot act by the family member, And then asked what I had to say for myself. Well, I said my car is in the body shop getting fixed, here is the business name and address. Cars been there two weeks. They found the body shop owner was doing weed runs in customers cars. There was 2 lb in the back storage area/trunk of my 89 Formula.
Was without the car even longer, because now it was part of a crime. and back in the 80's weed was not legal. And 2 pounds was a big deal.
Nothing like paying car payments and insurance on a vehicle and having to ride a bike to work..

This is exactly why I do all maintenance and even (relatively small) repairs that would otherwise be covered under warranty myself.

That Taurus was the most reliable car I have ever had. 2014, never 1 problem with it. 86k miles, only changed the oil and put new tires on at 65k miles. It also hit a deer at 70+ when I was driving to NY to pick up my brother in law who was murdered. I pulled the fender off the wheel and kept on going, had a severe time crunch to pick up his ashes. Car made it back to VA after and was declared totalled in 2019, insurance company gave me 16k. Then I bought the mustang.

Meanwhile, my 19 Mustang had rear rotors and pads replaced under 10k miles, drivers hub bearing replaced under 17k miles, lateral control arm at 37k miles. Engine taps like a little man with a hammer, but told is normal, transmission shifting issues appear to be fixed now, three years later.

To be honest, the only reason I bought the Mustang was they had no high tier Taurus.

I am just curious, am I the only one that videos their entire vehicle upon drop off.

I have dropped off vehicles in the past where a Caravan side door had a crease put down the middle of the door. That was while having a key made after buying 2 days previously. They tried to say it was like that when I dropped it off. My video showed different.

Dropped my Taurus off and had a dent in driver's side passenger door. They denied they did it. Video showed otherwise.

I never ever drop my car off at the dealership and as a result, I've never had a car damaged by them.

I stay for whatever needs to be done. The service manager expects that I will do a walk-around video.

When ever I drop off my car at the dealer. I make it a point with the Service Advisor that there is no damage on my car and record the mileage. No one and I mean no one will treat your car like you do.
