Ok at one time i thought only wankers would use them but after my drive today the soles on my running shoes are too wide so im thinking i need a more narrow shoe.
Whats the forum scoop?

I also primarly wear converse. anything with a vulcanized sole would be okay with me really, they just feel right to me.

That said, most street shoes prob aren't fire retardant to the degree racing shoes are... so just another thing to consider your risk level tolerance for as well...

Wrestling shoes are a cheap alternative but just for in the car. You'll wear them out fast if you walk around in them.

If you want great driving shoes that don't scream "LOOK AT ME I THINK I AM A FAST DRIVER" like the Puma Speedcat type shoes do, try Saucony Bullets. They are sort of in between a running shoe and a wrestling shoe. Very comfortable and narrow and only about 50 bucks.

I have Piloti Prototipo Driving Shoes. They are good for driving and normal walking during our group rides.

My experience with piloti was a few years ago, so maybe they are better now, but bought a pair on a clearance sale, and no returns... wore for about 5 minutes and they went promptly into the trash. They were insanely stiff. Everybody likes diff things though!

IMHO, the primary benefit of racing shoes, in addition to the flat soles, is the thinness to the soles. It gives you much better feel of the pedals, which helps with control. I really rate driving without them. Iā€™m my experience, it makes heel toe much easier.

OP are you referring racing/track shoes or just good driving shoes?
