So i was just looking through the order guides and i noticed that on the premium gt there are selectable driving modes and on the standard gt it doesn't list it. So my question, will the base gt not get different driving modes?

My guess would be no, since the base cars don't get the toggle switches.

Not going to stop me from ordering, but good to know. Wonder how the car is going to ride without the adjust ability.

I think the driving modes and other things that the toggle switches do could be implemented elsewhere.

In place of the toggle switches the base model gets buttons that do the same thing...as 3 of the 4 toggles at least, but one is missing. That one thing that the base model does not get to change is driving mode; it'll still change steering and traction control, just not driving mode unless you step up to the premium and get the toggles also.

Thanks for clearing that up guys. As much as i would like the different driving modes i don't find it necessary.

I still wonder if there will be any time difference between an identical car w/ the best selectable driving mode vs. base car

That's what i've been wondering as well, whether the base model will be comparable to the more economical driving mode or the more sporty one.

I assume that the base will get "Normal", while the premiums get "Normal", "Sport", "Track" and "Snow/Wet".

All those buttons though, sorry that base console is terrible. Close to 40 buttons to push...

I can handle buttons... that's not a problem.

Heck, I'd almost rather have the base center stack rather than the premium one.. Those tacky chrome toggle switches just aren't doing it for me.

Would be cool if all S550's came with Selectable Drive Modes, but with the base cars you would have to get "creative" in getting into the ECU and ABS modules and creating your own buttons..

What I'm also curious to see is if you tap the TCS OFF button twice on a base car, will you get sport mode? As in how the '11-14 Mustangs have been?

I may be in the minority here but the MyFord Touch system is definetly not a neccessity to me in a performance car. to tell you the truth I find it to be more of a distraction. I do wish that the performance oriented features would have been made available on the base. I will be very interested to see if there is a difference between times on the base v premium GT.

Does the 400A get the drive select modes or just the 401A?
