I like your thinking GoBlue.

probably not because the base cars dont even have all of the drive mode settings built into the computer, it would probably require a new computer for the carI wonder if the pushbutton assembly can't simply be changed out for the toggle switch assembly? If the buttons and toggles are all wired to a plug that connects to the harness it could be an easy mod.

I would bet that the computer is the same and they just disable that feature. I'm thinking that the switches could be added and those features turned on in the programming.probably not because the base cars dont even have all of the drive mode settings built into the computer, it would probably require a new computer for the car
I don't think we know the answer to that, but I agree with you. If it defaults back to normal-normal-normal every time it starts, that will not be the best. (But I ordered a Premium anyway.)The only thing I want is that the steering setting and the throttle setting to be able to be set to default to whatever i left them at. I am fine if the traction control defaults back to normal but i want to be able to keep sport steering mode and sport throttle map everytime i start the car
Someone hasn't seen the interior in person.I can handle buttons... that's not a problem.
Heck, I'd almost rather have the base center stack rather than the premium one.. Those tacky chrome toggle switches just aren't doing it for me.
That sounds illegal given modern regs.Hopefully we can configure the defaults somehow instead of punching buttons every time we start the car. I want traction and stability control defaulted to OFF unless I choose to turn it ON.
Same here. My little DSC button probably has the most contact time with my fingers from holding it down every time I start the thing up. The finish is wearing off from the oil.Correct, as in the past you will have to set driving modes every time you start the car. That used to be my routine with the 2011, start the engine and hold the TSC button until the TC and SC turn off.
I'm hoping the driving modes will enable a better throttle response. The gas pedal is electronic, and has been for years, and can have terrible lag when you step on it. My Taurus is awful that way.
lol why? ....need to be ready to "lite em up" at a moments noticeCorrect, as in the past you will have to set driving modes every time you start the car. That used to be my routine with the 2011, start the engine and hold the TSC button until the TC and SC turn off.

This is unlawful under current regs.Hopefully we can configure the defaults somehow instead of punching buttons every time we start the car. I want traction and stability control defaulted to OFF unless I choose to turn it ON.
Whenever this little scumbag symbol pops up on my dash it's like having someone or something yanking my earbuds out. Instant rage. Some traction nets are too aggressive. It's not just a matter of donuts and sliding.lol why? ....need to be ready to "lite em up" at a moments notice
I could see the regulations requiring the Mfg. to default the car to have them enabled from the factory. But I'd be really surprised to hear that the owner of the car isn't allowed to set their specific car to anything they so desire. This is unlawful under current regs.
Be thankful you can turn it off AT ALL... the E.U. has been trying for years now to push through regs which would outlaw the ability to completely disable traction and stability control.
That would drive me absolutely insane, since it's impossible to get unstuck from a snowbank without turning off traction and stability.
No, it's all about the throttle response and feel. My Taurus can hesitate for almost a 1/2 second before accelerating while the computer decides what gear to be in, if any wheels are spinning, etc, etc. It's more than annoying, it scares you sometimes when you give it gas to pull into traffic and the damn thing just sits there for a half second. That's a lot of time when merging.lol why? ....need to be ready to "lite em up" at a moments notice
