I recently purchased a 2018 Shelby GT350 and have put about 300 miles on it . Overall I’m getting more comfortable with it with the exception of the Driver’s Side Recaro seat seems very high ( compared to my 2015 GT3 or F430).

I removed Seat to inspect for possible modifications to lower…

has anyone had success on this before?

it needs to go down approx 1.25”

I assume you have used the front lever to ratchet it down to the lowest position?

Yes it’s all the way down to lowest factory setting

looks like I will need to make 4 new articulating brackets with slightly different angles to lower . Net will most likely be restricted to 5/8” to maintain clearance for the track locks that move up for release.

unless I can figure out clever way to get track rails mounted 1” inboard of current position.

You must be a tall dude. I am 6'3" with a long torso and even with a helmet on I have plenty of room with the factory Recaro seat.

Not all all

just hate the seating position

it’s very uncomfortable

I feel I’m riding” on it”, not “ in it” like my other cars

sounds like I’m the first, so I will attempt to modify or sell car

thanks for quiver response all

great group

Are you amenable to replacing the seats and just storing the stock ones? If so, HMS motorsports has extensive experience fitting aftermarket and race seats to the S550 chassis and should be able to guide you.

You are not the first. I have seen a few threads come and go discussing the same issue. I am 6’ 2” and I feel like I am about an inch to 1.5 inches too high also. It sucks looking through the tint strip on the windshield.

Good luck with this topic, I too have combed through the old threads. I’m 6’3” and can’t get the seat low enough. Most people will reply “just lean the seat back.” Well now you can’t reach the steering wheel, so what good does that do??

Recaro seat seems very high ( compared to my 2015 GT3 or F430).
I understand… I don’t drive the Cayman often, but as I’m lowering myself into the driver’s seat, it seems like I keep thinking, “Where’s the seat, where’s the seat?”. It seems too low once used to the GT350.
It’s all relative… both great cars with very different surroundings.

I gotta ask: You have two flat plane crank vehicles, any similarities?

I’m going to measure seat bottom cushion height relative to floor, center line of steering wheel in ( neutral position-non tilt) and top of dash on each of these 3 cars .

shelby
GT3
F430

the Shelby seems much higher at all points , I hope I’m wrong and it’s just a matter of getting acquainted to the car

Flat plane question

yes a bit similar
I’ve been long time multiple Ferrari owner so I’m partial
Both rev fast
Both lack low end torque
F430 has Novitec exhaust so it screams

I think the Shelby has more mid range grunt 4,500-7,000

That’s my take

But I’m only 300 plus miles in with the GT350

The GT3 totally different
