Did the dealer find a code stored for this in your car? If it's doing it about 1/2 the time, I'd think it would have be clearly demonstrable to the dealer.
First time I took it in it worked perfectly. Last two days have been 50/50. Heading out of town tomorrow, but at this point I will just have to head to the dealer as soon as I can. It really started acting up yesterday.

Don't the exhaust solenoids cycle when the car is turned on? If one is stuck and doesn't cycle, it may prevent the drive mode. Just an idea.

Have you tried unplugging the pigtails going to the actuators on the exhaust? Its not hard to do it. That should get you the exhaust modes back. It might be a crushed connection or short in the pigtail. The pigtails are cheap 13 bucks a piece. I had this issues and after a few unplug/replug cycles, it went away. I recently put on the magnaflow catback and no issues even with that.

Sorry to bump an old thread, I've got almost 6k miles on the car now and just started receiving these messages. Went to service because my AC was also not working. (I also have a 2nd transmission And 2nd drivers axle) they told me there were 3 software updates for pcms, ecus, etc.

Still getting the message, super annoying as sometimes the flaps are stuck open and sometimes they're stuck closed (leading me to believe it's not something stuck) taking it back in tomorrow

Out of curiosity, any mods?

My friend in TX just picked up his GT350 today and he had this issue on his drive home. He removed the air bag and reconnected the switch in the steering wheel and it finally started workin. I will get an update if the problem returned or not.

mine did it the day I drove it off the lot...master tech at FORD identified a bad actuator. He said that each actuator is matched to its muffler so they had to replace complete exhaust (CAT back). They did an emergency ship of the complete assembly...so far problem has not returned...

It was actually just sitting idling when it came on. Fun fun!

I had this happen the day I drove it off the lot. I was a half mile down the road when I decided to change the exhaust to sport. It was disabled. Tried to change the drive mode to sport and got the "disabled" message.

Recycled power to the car (back at the dealership with the salesman watching) and the problem disappeared. I've half-way been expecting it to return, but so far it hasn't so I'm happy.

I hear the solenoids cycling when I depress the clutch before pushing the engine start button. Takes a couple of seconds to cycle them.

Glad it didn't come back.

I haven't started it again since. I dropped it off at the expel shop. It will be there until Tuesday of next week.
I probably didn't wait 2 full seconds, maybe 1. Put it in sport mode about 30 seconds after starting. Drove 10 miles and boy did it sound nasty (in a good way). Kept RPM's in the 2500 to 4250 range. When I was at stop lights a couple of times it sounded like it wasn't in sport mode, then got to the expel installer and got out of the car and when I came back in I noticed it wasn't very loud and looked down and seen the error message .
Pulled it into the bay and said take care of my babe.
I'm hoping I don't get it anymore, but we'll see.

Just had this happen again today. I have restarted the car 3-4 times, still happening. This has got to be the most frustrating issue because I can't get it to happen when I am at the dealer. I guess I could drive there right now while it is happening, but that isn't practical.

would love for the ford people to chime in on this thread! I went weeks without this occurring, back randomly today and goes away the second I pull into a dealer.

A. Make sure every time you start the car you hold the clutch in long enough to hear the valves cycle through BEFORE pressing the start button.

If you have a friend or a camera, monitor the valves on each side and make sure both open and close.

B. If the problem continues, bring it in and let them know of the issue again and direct them to check the valves. Some people have had them stuck and others like myself have had malfunctioning electronics causing them to not open or close.
