Door handle lock/unlock

My intelligent access lock/unlock feature is temperamental on the driver's side. The passenger side seems to work every time and very quickly but the driver's door is slow and often doesn't work at all. I'm starting to have to use the remote buttons. Do you guys find it's the handle that needs to be replaced or is it maybe the connection in the door?
