If you've broken your life down into describing things a unbearable because something takes 1-2 seconds to occur you should probably unplug for a bit...
For a touchscreen interface implemented in 2015, I think that lag is unacceptable. Wouldn't you say the same if that delay exists every step on a computer or mobile device as you minimize one window to access the desktop, then double click to open a folder, then finally open your file?

1-2 seconds is relatively long for something like this, especially when I'm driving on the road and don't want to keep my eyes down on the console for too long.

It was implemented way before '15, it just was one they had so they used it for S550...

I'm aware of that, I'm just disappointed that they updated a fantastic car but dropped the ball on this feature.

It's like going to a restaurant and ordering some food, you got a freshly prepared meal but were served leftovers for appetizers. You know what I mean?

It's extremely slow, it doesn't have video-in capabilities, and it doesn't have a web browser or video capabilities. I'd love to be able to browse youtube clips while waiting in an airport parking lot waiting to pick someone up... would that have been so hard? 1.5 thumbs down. I give it credit because the voice controls recognize well (but still slow).

OP, how dare you even consider sync 2 when sync 3 is so close!

For the base system, the 15's still acts silly sometimes, but the base system in the 14 was annoying, it sometimes wouldn't pick up my phone (I connect my iPhone only to only listen to the music on it, that's all). I have not seen too many complaints about the MFT in the 15 at least.

1. Really slow processing. There should be no reason why a $99 tablet could run laps around it.

2. I hate how dependent the system is on the touch controls. On my G37, you can move up and down screens with steering wheel controls, while here you gotta tap the resistive screen to get where you want. Instead of doing a quick glance and navigating via physical buttons while keeping your eyes on the road, you gotta actually stare at the screen and peck peck peck until you've found your selection.

3. Entering addresses into the navigation is slow and tedious. I'm starting to really regret springing for the navigation. I was better off just getting a 4g tablet and paying an extra $10 a month for service.

4. Huge 8" screen...only displays a few characters of a song title.

5. I don't know if it's just isolated to me, but I get occasional audio dropouts, and sometimes the source that I'm on "crashes", restarts, and starts playing the first track in whatever device im using.

I rent a lot of cars. So far I've used Ford, GM, Toyota, VW, Hyundai, Infinity, Mercedes. MFT2 is as good as the best of them and better than the majority. I firmly believe some people, while they may have had issues, weren't being honest in divulging their own level of operator incompetence. I will say for a fact it's better than Toyota, Hyundai, VW and Chevy. In both appearance and function. My .02

It's acceptable, however really disappointing and such a letdown to me. As a tech forward computer science grad 24 year old:

1) The entire system feels sluggish, transitioning from one menu to another has this unbearable 1-2 second delay that makes for a poor user experience.

2) Navigation is a joke. It takes 20-something seconds to establish a route, compared to 1-3 seconds via Google Maps on a smartphone. The system also notifies your exits/on-ramps really late, I've missed many cues and have to find alternative routes (when driving to an unknown area) because of this - mildly frustrating.

3) The automatic algorithm that "smartly" predicts the letter you're going to type out next (eg. street address) is so poorly implemented, adding unnecessary lag and delay to the text input process. An example is - say I want to type in "Hillcrest Drive", I would tap "H" and the system would take 2 seconds to calculate possible/available subsequent letter, then I click "I" and it would repeat. :frusty:

4) User-interface feels & looks like something from 2006.

5) Low resolution TFT display.

6) Music, via USB to an iPhone/Android, would sometimes intermittently cut out - similar to when your CD skips and there's a .5 second stutter.

7) MFT likes to re-index my music every time I start the car, this takes about 20 minutes; why is this even necessary? This eliminates the ability to tell the system tell what songs you have on your device, so you can't just call out "play Whole Lotta Love" until the system finishes re-indexing.

Older crowds seem okay with the system. But I feel for younger people, we're spoiled by much better user interfaces & experience available as of 2015 and expected the same "snappy-ness" from MFT. Sync 2 doesn't feel like a modern product, but something Ford implemented from 10 years ago. I realize nobody buys a Mustang for tech forward features, and I absolutely love my car otherwise - I'm just disappointing at this lackluster effort by Ford.
Sounds like there is something wrong with your system. I can navigate from screen to screen in a fraction of a second.
I was reading this at my son's house so for yuks when I left for home I enter my address into both the car nav and Google maps on my S4 there was no noticeable difference how quickly in how quickly the route was established.

Can't see how you can be missing turns unless the system is defective. Depending on speed it first announces a turn between .1 and 1 mile and pops up a closeup of the turn with a count down bar graph, and in the case of many highway off ramps you get a computer generated street view of the exit.

As far as the smart typing as soon as I touch a letter the available letters appear, no noticeable delay.

My wife has has a Dodge with uConnect that is widely praised as one of the very best systems and the resolution of MyFordTouch has a much better display.

I really think you need to get your car back to the dealer to get it fixed.

BTW, I am a member of the older crowd and was involved in the development and bringing to market a lot of the technology in your home and car. Hopefully in 30 years you will be able to look back and say I helped develop "that".

OK, answering as a tech forward computer science grad 48 year old Mustang owner... :)

1.) Yeah, it's sluggish, but there's far more exciting things going on than that screen. It's a car!

2.) Navigation? I tried it once and it shouted "I'm going to make a phone call now!" and my wife and I looked at each other and said "never again." Maybe you paid for the navigation thingy and it's not as horrible as that. I'll stick to a dedicated GPS that can actually be upgraded.

6.) Haven't tried it that way, but that doesn't seem right.

7.) I had this problem when I put my music on an SD card, and it would lose its mind and re-index and randomly skip around in ways that made me absofreakinglutely insane. That behavior means it hates your media. I replaced it with a SanDisk Cruzer Fit USB 23 GB drive, and it works perfectly now. Other media may work too, but that's what worked for me. Mind you, if you have a million music files in your folder, almost every computer in the world hates that!

I read Ford was even sued for the flawed system. Does it suck for you? Also I read they promised apps like Pandora, etc. but now that Sync 3 is here they said support for Applink 2.0 will be discontinued.

What are your experiences with the system?
Well, there are idiots out there who will sue for just about anything. That doesn't mean they're right, just that they're going to a courtroom to argue about it.

I personally care not a whit about apps and Applink. Don't see the point. It's a car. I drive it for fun and to remove myself from connected everything for a precious few tens of minutes. I do computer things at home (oh, and at work).

I think the mustang actually does a really good job of giving you buttons and/or voice commands to do most of the things that you might otherwise have to deal with a laggy touch screen to do!

I have over 5000 songs in my phone. Admittedly not even a quarter of my music library, but the system is slow. Whether you want to admit that or not I don't care. It is what it is. I rent a lot of cars due to my job and this system is the slowest by far. Is it only my car? I doubt that.

If I didn't know about Sync 3, or about Carplay I'd say it was great. The issues I've had have always been solved by troubleshooting on my iPhone. I really with we had the Sync features with Applink. I've used Gen 2 MFT since the summer of 2013 and its been great. Especially since the 3.6 update on (on 3.7 now)
