Do new coyote 5.0 'Stangs have the same distinct Mustang sound as the fox and 90/00s?

No they sound different. I own a 95GT and personally think it's the greatest sounding engine ever produced. The coyote is nice but Meh.:tsk:

I did everything I could in my 2013 5.0 to capture the sound of a "real" v8 but with variable cams and it's a high revving v8 as well as the firing order it will never sound anything like the older v8s. I loved my set-up though it was steeda cat delete on an h-pipe, and borla S-type axleback with resonator-delete. I prefer the pushrod sound so much better that's why when people talk about how the "sound" needs to be had in these mustangs is BS to me because even with the v8 I wouldn't be happy with the sound they produce.

Yeah it sounds amazing and it's the best out of the three models offered BUT just like you the modern v8 sound ain't cutting it.

This is a mustang and a proper sounding one to me, skip to like 1:15

The best video I've seen that captures the sound I'm going for is this guy who just installed 40 series flowmasters

Yeah that doesn't sound bad!

Of all the Mustangs and exhausts I have had, my favorite (in short bursts, anyway) is my 94 GT with off-road H-pipe and 40-series Flowmasters. It's own private race.

The Coyote 5.0 has a different firing order
(1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2)

Heard a rumor it's the firing order of the old Mustang 390, have yet to look that info up as of yet.
It's close...

Old Mustang 390 was...
1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8

Along w/ my S550 I have a 68 Mustang GT S Code (390/4spd)

The 2V 4.6's sound best to me, followed by the 3V 4.6's and then the new 5.0. Hold on, those 4V Cobra's are amazing, too although I'm not sure I've ever heard a stock one.

My 03 from a couple blocks away. Friend took the video after I left his place. Just a partial throttle burst. Didn't want to make too much noise in his neighborhood at 11pm.

The exhaust sounds from my 1996, 2000, 2005, 2006, and 2010 4.6 V8 all sound better to my ear than the Coyote V8. I dare say the 4.6 sounds as good if not better than even the old Ford 5.0/302 pushrod V8s. The Coyote V8 sounds good at low RPMs but when rev'd up, it gets really raspy and I don't care for that.

Speaking of sounds, I wonder whatever happened to the idle lope that Ford showed with its TrackKey? That would be cool to have in the current Mustang GTs when switched on to Track Mode. See video below.

But here's what I really miss: That air intake/induction howl you'd get with carbureted engines - esp w/4-barrel carbs. No carburetor sounded better than the GM Rochester Quadrajet. The 1983-85 Mustang GTs with the Holley 4V carbs sounded great, too. I loved the sound so much that, as a teenager, I'd flip the air cleaner lid on my '71 Mustang Mach 1 351C Mustang just so the induction howl would be louder. It probably hurt my performance because the engine wasn't getting cooler air from the air ducts. Still, it sounded good.

For those of you who have forgotten, or too young to know, see the two youtube clips below for what I consider music to my ears.

The Coyote sounds mean (and FAR better than the LS3), but I think the 4.6L SN and 'new edge' Mustangs sound the best by far. They have that hollow-burbly sound that can be recognized any where.

Dude. I agree 100% I actually have a '73 El Camino 350 topped with a Quadrajet and finished with cherry bomb glass packs. Its a mean sounding hunk of junk. LOL My '96 GT is the true symphany maker

Whatever I need
The overhead cam engines don't sound the same as the older SBF. It's a higher pitched sound. I've gotten used to it over time and I like the sound. I agree though - I remember when I heard my first 4.6 and it was different I didn't love it right away. Of course that was almost 20 years ago now. I always felt they had a sound of a more racy, higher revving performance engine compared to the old low performance 200 HP Fords from the 80s.
I have a cammed, pully'ed, and full Bassini exhaust '04 Lighting. Ain't no high pitch bitch, the basso-profundo generated by that 2v 5.4 would make a BBF blush, pure evil!
