I store mine unlocked and covered in my garage. With the hood closed but unlatched so that I can plug/unplug charger. I’ll often leave the windows cracked a little too so air can flow.
That is odd behavior. I occasionally see a brand new CFTP GT500 on my way to work. Unfortunately this guy has his Instagram handle stuck obnoxiously on both his quarter windows and bannered everywhere… I probably don’t smile as much when I see his but cool nonetheless I guess.
Yeah, then I we’re all in the same boat. I know a lot of Gen 3s (trucks on 87 mostly) are noisy in in that rev range. It’s a strong engine but it can make a racket.

“Deformed” is overselling what looks to simply be a ding. But I can only speak from my own experience when I say I’ve had zero issues when I’ve dropped and dented filters while servicing my cars. Ymmv
I’d use it. Doesn’t look punctured or deformed. As mentioned, that area is just an end-cap. But contact them still, maybe they’ll send another that can be saved for your next service
