But some of you are comparing Mercedes, BMW, and other high end cars with fabulous build quality and more exclusivity to a mustang. Just a mustang. Not even the gt500 etc.
That's one thing people are so excited about with this new model. Ford have done a nice job of closing the gap wrt quality. Sure, it's still going to fall short of those models costing way more, but to many people it's going to be 'close enough' that they won't be left wanting for much. The people that will be left wanting are those for whom having premium quality is a bigger priority than overall value.

Same with exclusivity... everyone places a different value on it. Exclusivity makes a car more expensive for sure, and can be an ego booster for some, but it doesn't usually make them more fun to drive. :)

I have owned most of the high end cars listed above except the corvette because I am just too large a man to fit comfortably at 6'6" and 260. I would not put the mustang in their category.
Curious if you have sat in a 2015?

I think the car is priced fair with everything I/we are getting. My 2003 10th Anniversay cobra was 37-38k and that was 11 years ago. My 2015 GT is 46k. For an 8k difference, the GT is a lot more car for the money besides the bulletproof motor in the 03.

I can say that I am only disappointed in two things: 1) that I cannot get a Base GT in a convertible, and second is that I cannot get MFT in the base... other than that I think the pricing is pretty fair considering the improvements over last year

Overall I think the pricing is fair. Especially considering all the new improvements to the last year model at about 5% (?) increase across the board.

Anybody else disappointed in the prices?

I was thinking I would be able to get a base EB with PP for 27K, but looks like it will be 29K or over 30K with tax. The GT's are near 40K or more.

I know they are better cars every year and that's why the price keeps going up, but at what point will the majority of people start getting priced out? I bought an 03 Mach 1 for 29K, now, about ten years later a base 4 cylinder is more:crazy:

They are advertising base Camaro 6 cylinders here in my area for 20,400 dollars right now. Do you think this is going to affect sales to the non diehard mustang fans when they can get a base Camaro for 20K and the base Mustang I4 is 27K.

I just hope the I4 at least outruns the Camaro for that kind of money.
What? I'm getting a 2015 GT with PP and Recaro's for around $34K A 1LE Camaro is still 2K more with incentives...'14 Mustangs with track pack you can buy for under $29K. Are you basing everything off MSRP? I'm am very curious where you came up with these numbers? I'm looking at my DORA for my '15 and one a dealer did in March for a '14 optioned exactly the same. The price at MSRP increased by $890 ($36125 vs. $37015) and that is pocket change compared to the massive increase in hardware you get. I just priced the 1LE with Recaros: MSRP $39845. Now with a supplier discount and a $1500 rebate it drops to $36501 but that is still $2K (Almost 3K with cool dual mode exhaust) more for a car that's long in the tooth.

So no, the Camaro "deals" you speak of will have no impact on '15 Mustang sales. FYI Don't include taxes in one price and not in the other. Everyone pays tax (at different rates), its a non-negotiable privilege of buying a car.

A 20 second search comes up with this, Base V6 Mustangs with Automatics are cheaper than similar Camaro's.

Time for the inflation calculator! http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl

$29,000 in 2003 is $37,495 in 2014.

To give you a whole number to work with, $30k in 2004 is the same as $37.8k in 2014. That's a little more than 25% in 10 years.
Well, I guess that explains everything.
I saw the post on the 2014 base for 20,300 so I think I may wait till the 16's start coming out and get a better deal.

But I do believe if Ford could put the EB out for around 22 or 23 they would have sales numbers similar to 1964/65.

My 2011 stickered for $36k. I built a 2015 with similar options including nav which my '11 didn't have and it was around $38k. Now in general I think all cars are too expensive these days but I don't see the GT price increase to be drastic at all. Especially compared to Camaro SS and Challenger srt8

My 2011 stickered for $43K and I am looking at about $48K for a 2015 loaded. Might have to wait til 2016 to see what's offered.

Any 2011 & 2012 owner that bought new and got the HID Headlamp option probably think the pricing is just fine. Getting the HID's forced you to get the active anti-theft so the total was around $900 adder.

For me, the cost adder going from a Premium 2011 V6 w/ MCA option and HID's into a Premium Eco-Boost will only cost me around $1100 more. For what I'm getting extra, it is well worth the increase.

i was a bit disappointed at first with the GT entry price but only because I wished somehow the GT would've been 30k even and include leather racing gloves, and a cool leather jacket for the ladies to admire.

I knew full well it wouldn't be priced unbelievably and comparable to the other cars in its price range, subaru sti, v8 camaro, challenger etc. Actually, speak of the devil, but I'm leaning towards the new challenger now all of a sudden, the refresh really addressed all the issues I had with the original with its cheap looking interior
