I was wondering how people skipped gears when shifting. There's no way I can do it in my car bc like you said it holds rpms for several seconds. There have been times when I hasn't held randomly and it drops very fast, it will feel even stranger kinda like a down shift without a blip.

If I'm going to skip a gear or I need to "coast"/decel in the next gear instead of accelerate due to (f'ing) traffic, I tap the throttle a bit and it seems to set up the revs right for me.

Yeah, I like to accelerate hard, but when I wind out second gear, I'm pretty much breaking every speed limit in my town, so I often nail first, hold WOT through second, then just clutch it out and coast once I reach the end of second gear... followed by the lovely sound of my revs hanging around 4500RPMs for about three seconds while I'm just coasting in neutral. This annoys the hell outta me!

I was planning to keep the stock tune for as long as possible, but this situation needs to change.

I have never noticed this... I will have to pay attention. i am guessing it is because of my type of commute... I don't really have to hunt gears.

Yep! In fact, just the other day I actually thought about accelerating rapidly, but then I thought "wait, someone might not like the sounds coming out of my car. I'd better not" ... so I calmly drove to the nearest Toyota dealership and traded my Mustang GT in on a new Prius. Problem solved.

I had a situation recently where I've nailed it in first, only to have someone shift lanes in front of me. Off the throttle, stomped on the clutch and brake whilst coasting along with the engine is sitting there at about 4,500rpm. At first I thought I must have my foot on the throttle....
Look and sound like a dickhead much?

Why didn't you shift into second and then hop on the brakes? This would get your revs down so you don't sound like a jackass, at least. Or keep it in first with the clutch out while getting on the brakes? Not sure why you clutched in so early.
